All windows swing open, so this or the letter box are the only solutions. However standalone units are massive, where as home sizes are tiny, so are effectively taking up proportionally MUCH more of the floor space of the house.

Nearly 1m thick stone walls made out of effectively flint, been up for +150yrs. No chance am I cutting a hole in that! Took the fiber guys a day and 4 drill bits to make a tiny hole for our internet!

The new EV tax is INCREDIBLY regressive given that our local city is Exeter - where the college/hospital/rail/jobs are. We're going to be paying £742.50 extra in car taxes/yr with the EV per mile tax. Public transport isn't an option here.

4 hr 22 min one way bus trip this evening, with the last bus at 7:35 PM.
Then only a 6:05 AM trip gets you to Exeter before 9 AM, with a 2 hr 21 min trip one way.

Domestic Switch 2 is MUCH CHEAPER than anywhere else in the world, and even the multi-language version of the Switch 2 within Japan! So I would take these numbers with a pinch of salt! Nintendo is using the JP only language version to boost their numbers.

US gamers will pay $449.99 for Nintendo’s Switch 2, a significant price bump from the $299 first-generation console. But in Japan, the console will be more affordable.

Nintendo developed a Japanese edition of the console, which will launch for 49,980 yen or $343 USD. The catch? It only functions in Japan, Nintendo's home country, so US travelers can't pick one up on their next trip to Tokyo.

"Japanese is the only supported language. Only Nintendo accounts with 'Country/Region' set to 'Japan' can be linked," Nintendo says of the Japanese Switch 2.

The Japan-only Switch 2 was specifically created to be affordable, Nintendo said in a press release. Some speculate the product is meant to address a weak Yen, which has lost around 50% of its value against the US dollar over the past five years.

Of course, a cheaper Switch 2 might attract scalpers. So Nintendo likely instituted the country-based limits to prevent people from buying up units and reselling them in other markets.

An FAQ further explains the differences between the Japan-only and international versions of the Switch 2. The former can only access the Nintendo eShop for Japan.

Just so you know, I added our Greenland campaign map to Unseen Diplomacy 2 back in March 2025, as I was trying to include regions who rarely get represented in games 🥲 I really wasn't expecting what we're getting today in real politics.

Got a new futon sofa after 15yrs of previous 2nd hand one I got for £30. Futon Company one was falling to bits and a new one was £1k, but found a company in UK that hand makes them and you can make a custom design, even the frame, for cheaper!

An event type which requires no back and forth discussion.
An event type which plenty of other awards manage to stream.
In an industry that has the likes of Discord and Twitch where people can even setup streams from their bedrooms.
An event and support group which hopes to 1up Women, who are more likely to have to stay at home to care or be there to pick up their kids.
For an event which I'm sure plenty of developers around the world would love to be watching.
And especially for an "award recognises women working who are actively campaigning for greater diversity in the games industry or who are using games to speak out on broader social issues affecting women. Nominees will successfully occupy the space between the industry and the consumer, influencing the perception of the video games industry by the rest of the world."

On top of caring and accessibility reasons to provide an online option;
I'm assuming my nomination is also due to my work with Cornwall Games. At this point I would like to highlight the cost of travel, stopping many working class and remote developers attending. It can often be harder for developers here in hashtag#Cornwall to get to London than it is for someone in the USA to get to London! When I checked the price for another event in London, flight from New York is £307, train from Penzance is £321.79 with an open return, PLUS accommodation needed of course because especially from North Cornwall - the travel time can be the same too! With no online option, those from Cornwall, other Celtic nations, and the borders, are being left out of this industry.
