I have used a saucepan in the oven exactly one (1) time, back as a student, because I also made this mistake, and so never again. Its like... while you're pulling it out of the oven, you know to be careful, but then after that suddenly it's just a pan on the stovetop and autopilot takes over.

Editorial statement regarding the recent Crikey piece.

In Crikey, Sami Shah stated that The Shot is anti-Semitic, describing our masthead as “an attempt at a satirical site for people who found Facebook comments insufficiently moderated” and our work as “Practically demonstrations of antisemitism". Embarrassingly, in the same week, The Australian more accurately described us as “left-wing” and “probing the limits of law and language”.

Sami singled out two article headlines, The royal commission into the hurt feelings of genocidal psychopaths and Updates from the royal commission into the selective outrage of Zionists, which he clearly didn’t read before accusing us of sloppy “media criticism”. The headlines were mine, the body copy written by Joel Jenkins. They were no-bullshit, reality based tear downs of the fascistic assaults on our democracy, which all of us can see so plainly with our own eyes. Even liberal Zionist cowards like Shah.

During a mass slaughter that our government is supporting materially and diplomatically, it's not good enough to have segments of the indie media community trying to un-stretch the Overton Window back inside the borders set by decades of hasbara, horrifically biased and supremacist mass media, and the whims of the genocidal psychopaths. We don’t know how many Australians love milquetoast fence-sitting during atrocity, but Pew research shows that 80% of us despise Israeli atrocity and fascistic overreach into our democracies.

As a credo, I try to treat people with the same level of respect I am shown. We have done more serious analysis and investigative reporting on this depravity than Crikey has, a much larger outlet with more staff and resources. Over the years, The Sunday Shot has also platformed many Crikey writers. Needless to say, that moment has passed us by.

To make such petty remarks at some of the few unvarnished truth-tellers in Australian journalism on this subject, in this moment of abject moral failure, of cowardice and of complicity, speaks to the hollow pettiness of Shah’s analysis. Focus on what really matters, please.

There is enough genocide apologia in the corporate press already. It's pathetic to see it in the indie space, too. Do better, Crikey, your readers expect more.

I've increasingly seen the terms "Biological [male/female]" used to talk about trans people, even by people trying to be supportive, and I wanted to get my thoughts down about that. The tl;dr is that the terms are slurs and factually wrong, and pushing back when you see them is appreciated.

By all rights I should love Outer Wilds. It's very highly regarded by people whose opinion I trust, and it's a genre I love to bits. But every time I've tried it, I hard-bounce off the space navigation. Getting place to place sucks so much, I never get deep enough to get hooked on anything else.

Another day. Another complaint. This time about the BBC's lack of clarity in its reporting.

Complaint reads: "I am writing regarding your article about Andy Burnham and Bridget Phillipson.

The BBC has previously explained that it uses terms such as "biological male" and "biological female" to provide readers with "clarity". However, this article has left me rather confused.

The article makes no mention whatsoever of the biological sex of either Andy Burnham or Bridget Phillipson. As a result, I have no idea whether Mr Burnham is biologically male, whether Ms Phillipson is biologically female, or indeed whether either of them identifies as such.

Could the BBC please contact both individuals to verify their biological sex and update the article accordingly?"
