My biggest complaint with more recent Warriors games is they've been leaning into streamlining the weapons and making them, like, actual weapons people used, which fundamentally misses the point of Dynasty Warriors. I want to be able to murder 3000 guys with my dirty laundry or a park bench.

So Samurai Warriors 5 is a redesign of everything like DW9 (although much less poorly done), and they both overhauled how all the characters look and shrank the focus so the entire game takes place up until the death of Nobunaga, which was basically just act 1 of the story in the previous games.
