This is literally the most batshit thing I've ever heard a council propose. Whoever came up with and supports this needs to be fired immediately and banned from London for life.

Labour defending Twitter is a good example of why they are so ineffective in government: utterly unwilling to take decisions which have any controversy attached.

Very Ukrainian accent: "Oh Mr Vance, is it hard to negotiate peace? Is it difficult to come to a deal when both sides have fundamentally irreconcilable positions on key issues? Does not being able to trust your counterparty make things tricky? Why do you hate peace, Mr Vance?"

What has to happen before the world hits a tipping point? Epstein files? Hospitals bombed in Gaza? War crimes in Lebanon? Illegal Iran war? Children suffering in ways we shouldn’t be able to imagine? Ben Gvir celebrating being able to hang people? Wish I was going mad & this wasn’t reality.

Indeed. It's also bleakly funny seeing people go 'this is harmful for teenagers' (a sentiment with a fairly limited evidence base) who have obviously cooked their brains online to the point that they cannot grasp the really simple 'we should probably ban the problematic parts of this for everyone'.

European weakness on full display by these horribly contorted responses from Merz, Macron and Starmer - neither condoning nor condemning US actions in Venezuela Such weakness only risks making the Europeans more vulnerable (ie Greenland)

Richard Tice during an interview "Keir Starmer literally used the words: take up arms and go for the enemy" What a lemon Firstly (& most importantly) he DID NOT say that. Secondly you can’t wang on about language you don’t like AND parade Lucy Connolly like a mascot. Make your mind up.

Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell. Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass. That, right there, is the problem.

Good piece by @joxley.jmoxley.co.uk. I'd add: 'won't work' can only work for a party in gov't people think that gov't's own approaching IS working. Which they don't. Similar to how Sunak's attacks on Starmer for 'not having a plan' failed to land. www.joxleywrites.jmoxley.co.uk/p/it-wont-wo...

This is an insane thing to write about game development. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/28/a...

Most experts acknowledge that a takeover by artificial intelligence is coming for the video game industry within the next five years, and executives have already started preparing to restructure their companies in anticipation.
After all, it was one of the first sectors to deploy A.I. programming in the 1980s, with the four ghosts who chase Pac-Man each responding differently to the player's real-time movements.

Terrific thread by Jonathan this. Since I was born, the area I grew up in has higher employment, has got older, has got healthier, became more likely to be in the private rented sector, got less religious, got less white. There is no non-bigoted reason to think the last of those is problematic.

Reminder: Atari didn't collapse in 1983-84 because their games were bad. It was because they had such unrealistic projections that even their top-selling titles were considered flops Atari executives peddled the "people hated the games" story to deflect blame for their mismanagement

The Sopranos is probably the Rosetta Stone of modern American reaction: it consists of people who bemoan the loss of an imagined past they mainly got from movies, claim victimization based on identity but hate when others do it, and view the people who build the society they prey on as suckers.

At risk of being repetitive, I don’t think it’s the tyres on Lime bikes which are the big issue. It’s the brakes. They are grossly insufficient for a heavy e-bike. It’s the same reason, though - drum brakes are cheaper than discs and need less maintenance. But they’re not good enough.
