decided to watch Barbarian, and I'm starting to think that Cregger's approach to horror doesn't click for me at all had mixed feelings with Weapons, but REALLY strongly disliked Barbarian biggest issue with both is that they belabor the build-up to their reveals that they kill their own momentum

with horror I think there's a tendency too often to set up scenarios where an asshole character is put into a situation with little-to-no avenues for agency so it's less an interrogation of their flaws, and more of an on-rails rollercoaster of punishment it ends up just kinda dramatically inert
