It was great seeing Boogie Nights in theaters again — but I believe this release removed "Driver's Seat" from the soundtrack!

very excited to celebrate one of Portland theatre’s high holy days, the annual one-night-only performance of Anonymous Theatre. they pick a play, each actor rehearses separately in secret, and everyone finds out together who is in it when they stand up from their seat to say their first line

I was delighted to find a real-world version of my favorite scene from Alice in Wonderland (which inspired the name of my website, rulefortytwo.com). As Alice told the King of Hearts, "Then it ought to be Number One." (Quote reported by @zackmeisel.bsky.social .) www.nytimes.com/athletic/746...
Text from The NY Times: "It's the first rule: Rule 21," said one multi-time All-Star who believes the league has done its due diligence. "No betting on baseball."

Name a TV show no one remembers but you.
A poster-type image for the TV show B.A.D. Cats, an Aaron Spelling cop show that had six episodes air on ABC in January and February 1980 (and dammit, I watched every one). The three leads are featured in this image: Asher Brainer, Michelle Pfeiffer (just 21 years old), and Steve Hanks.

I'm so sad Anthony Stewart Head had died, just 72. He always felt like a friend whenever I saw him on TV, even when he was being a right bastard. This is my favorite Rupert Giles moment: "The Exposition Song."

RIP Marcia Lucas, who was a genius editor and the secret sauce for Star Wars. When I visited Skywalker Ranch in 2005 to interview George Lucas, a friend who worked there warned me, "Whatever you do, don't compliment him on the stained glass." (Marcia had left George for the stained glass artisan.)

I was lucky enough to get my mitts on an early copy of BIG FAN by @joeposnanski.com and @kentremendous.bsky.social — judging by Joe P.'s eve-of-tour event in Charlotte, it's a hugely entertaining book. Also, Joe personalized my copy with some inside information about his friend and coauthor.
Author Joe Posnanski standing in a bookstore (a B&N in Charlotte NC), speaking to a crowd. He's wearing a blue shirt, a dark jacket, and khakis, and he's holding a microphone. The cover of the book BIG FAN by Michael Schur and Joe Posnanski. Subtitle: "Two friends, 82,490 Miles, and the Wild, Wonderful Sports We Love."A page inside the aforementioned copy of BIG FAN, autographed by Joe Posnanski and Mike Schur. Joe has added the inscription "Mike is a secret Yankees fan," which I assume must be true, because why else would he say such a thing about his friend and coauthor?

I experienced this personally at Condé Nast — we were told that the target circulation for Details was 400K, but once we achieved that, it got ratcheted up to 500K, which turned out to be a bridge too far. Everything we did to expand the readership also alienated our core audience: lotsa churn.

I wrote about Elvis's army years and return to civilian life for the New York Times. If the members of BTS are looking for lessons learned as they relaunch their pop careers, I recommend not getting hooked on amphetamines or pursuing 14-year-old girls. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/19/a...
