I hope that's not me your attempting to quote or paraphrase? I said not implied no such thing. And if I wasn't clear or you thought I'd meant that just ask?

I do believe it's a good thing to circulate and have a presence. But of course it's not the same as saying you must stand and never sit. It's just a tool.

Thank you for your question. Yes, it's the option. The size and layout of your room, being able to circulate, not having to hold the often heavy devices. Sometimes you want to be at the front and use your WB. It just reduces inertia. They go back down very easily so you get the best of both setups.

We've had 2in1s for a while now. I like the fact you can face the class. But my warning is it led to a lot of teachers sitting at their desk. So I bought my dept standing desks.

I'm afraid I see much the same on an average family meal out. We typically dine early about 4ish and so usually only see other young families. It's terrible. And the sugar thing ... Needs legislation, just look at the bbc article on rising type 2 diabetes.

This may not be useful at all. But three things that come to mind are mathsbot, drfrost and mrbartons new site for a lot of primary practice material (all the way down to ks1). I mainly use mrbartons stuff with my kids who are of primary age.

NEW BLOG: Are We Sure We Are Not the Bad Guys? www.emaths.co.uk/blog/persona...
A surreal split theatrical mask stands upright, one half dark and one half light, framing two contrasting landscapes: a bright countryside on one side and a bleak industrial cityscape on the other. A winding road passes between them beneath the title “Are We Sure We Are Not the Bad Guys?”, symbolising moral ambiguity, self-reflection and the challenge of questioning prevailing beliefs.

Not when I'd wrote above. Ss said it was hard but they enjoyed it. They said first half fine and second half had some challenges. Which is my point I guess. My overall point was more so with ref to a level paper 1 which was relatively harder IMO.

I think we are too quick to criticise exam boards. As with Edexcel paper 1, do we not want challenge and some novelty in assessment? Can't all be fluency.

I agree. Students should be assessed on question types that they shouldn't have come across before. A better assessment of ability than pure cramming.

A question almost identical to this is in the transformations Edexcel themed paper resources where it's clearer they want it in terms of k.

This is a great thread, thank you. The other issue is that for many places A level maths can be the largest a level and so resources are already stretched. (Maths classes 25 Ss Vs others at around 10) To accommodate <grade 7 Ss you'd need an increase. But where is the money and the teachers?

New Post! In many classrooms, lots of students aren’t listening, meaning they aren’t learning. Here we outline a few common mistakes and simple techniques for building classrooms where ALL students participate. Please share if you can 🙏 carouselteachlearnlead.substack.com/p/building-a...

Building a high participation classroom: key steps
If they aren’t listening, they aren’t learning. But knowing where to start to build a high participation classroom can be hard, so we’ve mapped out the key steps.

Teaches... I suppose it comes down to the definition. I said to a headteacher once that if the only objective was covering the content I could do it in almost any time frame he gave me.

How much curriculum time do you have?
110
mrdhillow.bsky.social @mrdhillow.bsky.social · 17/03/2026
Some sets will finish with a week to spare. And that's also incl the fact that we had to set all numerical methods and LDS as remote work over Feb HT. For context we have 11*50mins per fortnight.

I couldn't agree more. Every year we struggle to finish content. I can't imagine how it is that schools finish as early as they do. I'd be really interested in finding out how other structure curriculum and get through it. It's the kind of cpd/sharing I'd be super interested in.

Thanks for sharing. It's reassuring to hear that. I asked as I hear of many schools that boast they finish much earlier and have lots of past paper time and can't see how to do that?
