Both movies are also set in countries colonised by the Spanish, although one is set near the beginning of Spain's colonisation and the other is set long after.

What I find interesting is the Disney logo over the title, which seems to suggest that Disney decided to swoop in and get the "Under Wraps" rights after Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment went bankrupt.

This branch traditionally loves stop-motion animation and often goes to bat for hand-drawn animation. The chances of them nominating something not made by artists is nil. Not to mention this year has Laika, Aardman, two Pixars, Brad Bird, an acclaimed DreamWorks and indies like Tangles and Iron Boy

I think it's going to flop badly. Tech bros live in this fantasy world where suddenly all movies will become AI-generated nonsense, while showing off the most ugly and unappealing looking thing ever. I've yet to see a Gen AI image or video that didn't look horrendous.

They also got angry at him for saying he wouldn't attend the protest against Netanyahu at the UN. That's when I first noticed leftists calling him a traitor. Plus even if he wanted to, he's the mayor of New York City now and going to a protest like that would be an enormous security risk.

In the meantime, there are organisations on the ground like Standing Together, Peace Now, Mothers' Call and the Parents Circle-Families Forum who are doing the work to try and make a two-state solution a reality and a better future for Israelis and Palestinians.

It's clear that Israelis and Palestinians are both indigenous to the region and aren't going anywhere. What they desperately need are new leaders who will work together to live side-by-side in peace and put an end to the cycle of violence and bloodshed.

It is, in fact, possible (and encouraged) to criticise a government's actions without painting an entire population under the same brush. I have zero interest in hating someone, simply because of where they were born or where their parents came from.

Reflecting on the past three years, I wonder how different things would have gone if instead of the yelling, shunning, name-calling and treating a geopolitical issue like a sports match, people had preached co-existence.

I'm surprised Bay is returning to direct, unless he's doing this so Paramount will finance one of his other projects or distribute his documentary that premiered last year. His last few Transformers movies were "one for me, one for them" deals, so Paramount would back Pain & Gain and 13 Hours.

The funniest part of this news is the people saying "Maybe Shia will come back!" Just a hunch, but I don't think the actor who publicly said he hated working with Spielberg and criticised his directing style is going to be asked back. On top of his other controversies, of course.

That has stopped, so I don't see them doing that with Hexed. They've even lessened the number of narrative films released specifically for D+ (not counting Hulu), with only three last year and the next Wimpy Kid the only one this year. Even Descendants 5 and Camp Rock 3 premiered on Disney Channel.

At the risk of being labeled a "shitlib" or a "genocide enabler," I dunno, somehow I stubbornly remain unconvinced that Kamala Harris would've openly stated at a rally that it would be cool to let Iran completely wipe out multiple major American cities.

At the time, Disney was more confident in 102 Dalmatians and put most of their year-end marketing dollars on that movie (The Grinch would end up gobbling most of the attention, though). Although Disney did make this tv spot advertising both movies: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xpqf...

It's not a terrible hold, but "Forgotten Island" doing "Road to El Dorado" numbers was not what I expected it to do. But like El Dorado, I think history will be kind to this movie.

I'm confused what Disney is doing. I even pondered recently whether this is a signal the movie might be delayed. But there's no possible place for Hexed to move to, what with Disney's animation schedule being packed in 2027 and Spider-Verse, Shrek and live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 in June.

I specifically remember the trailer appearing at the start of the "Monsters, Inc." DVD. If Disney was trying to sabotage the movie and make sure as few people as possible knew about it, like some claim, why would they put the trailer on the DVD of one of their biggest hits of the early 2000s?

Seth MacFarlane is even a really talented songwriter in his own right. Despite being raunchy comedies, the original songs he co-wrote with Walter Murphy for the "Ted" movies ("Everybody Needs a Best Friend" and "Mean Ol' Moon") are genuinely sweet and sincere.

Any time someone mentions a movie had "no marketing", it's been a movie where I saw a ton. I saw this said about Elio, even though I got plenty of pre-roll ads and saw the poster on a lot of buses and bus stops. People also say this about Treasure Planet, but I can say with confidence that's false.

It's strange that the first new promotional material Hexed has gotten since D23 was Hailee Steinfeld promoting the movie and showing a clip on Fallon last night (you would think it would be the other late night Jimmy over at ABC). No trailer this month is unusual behaviour for Disney.

I was going to say it's not like they could predict Disney adding this re-release at the last minute, but then I looked up when they revealed Endgame's re-release date...and it was last December. But it's also a re-release of a seven year old movie. Who thought it would open so high?
