Donald Trump's Russian diesel "deal" has little to do with actual diesel or actual US market. The point of this brilliant Kremlin op is to use the WH as a disinfo tool for vilifying Ukraine: by falsely portraying Ukrainian long-range counterstrikes on Russia as "harmful" for the United States.

Not enough people take seriously "funding delays"/"bureaucratic nonsense can kill people" but here it is right here. If I was mad when a patient died because it took a few extra months for lawyers to try to look for a legal basis for an international data transfer, I'm incandescent, now.

NIH funding cuts delayed a promising childhood brain cancer trial. Patients lost time they didn't have
A delayed clinical trial underscores the stakes of federal research funding cuts for children with DIPG, a deadly brain tumor with few treatment options.

Everyone thinking about the upcoming election needs to be prepared the your standard vote propensity model is going to underestimate turnout for Dem voters, and overestimate it for Rep voters. We're probably only talking a swing of several percentage points for each, but that will have huge impacts

Dual class shares are fundamentally harmful to both investors and society, giving founders a strangle hold on companies that persist on the massive advantages of scale.

When I first posted that MAGA acolytes were going to flee like rats on a sinking ship, I couldn't have guessed Trump would start a war that turned into the worst strategic defeat the US has suffered since 1812. But unwillingness to admit defeat meant he was going to get stuck in a debacle

Trump and his sycophants aren't just trying to roll back the Constitution, but Magna Carta as well. This is a basic principle established by the English Civil War that the founders saw as absolutely fundamental to democracy

LA is physically larger, and so the city itself constitutes a much larger part of the metropolitan community, so much larger percentage is classic suburban population and much more Republican than NYC's more urban pop. As always enthusiasm drives elections. Dems had low enthusiasm, Republicans high

This is an amazing story that helps us understand why the U.S. Iran war has not yet led to catastrophically high oil prices. China's actions to reduce its demand by a quarter, for reasons unknown and mechanisms unclear, are credited with blunting the damage thus far.

Any investor should obviously be forewarned that this is going to be the first anti-trust move taken by the next administration. And Republican supreme Court judges are not going to be in a position or stop this freight train against illegal monopolies that were enabled when companies kowtowed

The Supreme Court is political, not making ball and strikes legal choices. They need to be brought to heel. There have been some good choices, but they also made the Dredd Scott decision. An unelected lifetime body making policy choices is fundamentally incompatible with democracy

Comic panel of Donald Duck and a wide-eyed young Mickey Mouse. Donald's speech bubble: "Democrats should do a huge middle class tax cut to address affordability." Mickey's speech bubble: "Fool that you are, for you treat taxation as a burden rather than the means by which our burdens are eased. Behold a civilization rich in private wealth yet starved of public provision, where every man owns what his grandfathers could not imagine and yet trembles at the thought of how he will weather an illness or loss of livelihood. Will you fight for an affirmative vision of broad contribution and universal benefit? Or will you perish like a dog?"

Trump and his ilk are teaching the rest of the world that it really is dangerous to have any government be indispensable. Orban is likewise teaching the EU that requirements for unanimity make every government indispensable and need to go the way of the Articles of Confederation.

It's also important to note Trump didn't do what Israel wanted. He did what Bibi wanted. Trump has a well documented regard for authoritarian crackpots who remind him of himself. He kowtows to Putin, Orban, etc. And to blame the lobbying of American Jews for Trump's disaster is rank anti-Semitism

How it started. How it's going.
Academic article "Acting "As If": Symbolic Politics and Social Control in Syria" describes army officers being forced to describe fantastical tales that are obviously not true to show fealty to the Hafez al-Assad regime. An obviously not true story is relayed by MAGA acolyte Nick Adams where he describes fictional young women gushing over the documentary about First Lady Melania Trump with such believable phases from 2025 as "Slay queen." He establishes that he is a real man and was not working out with them by emphasizing he was going out for a "hot black coffee." This fantastically tale is said to show his fealty to Trump.
