The Commander in Chief issued guidance that "being gay" is no longer a reason to discharge a person from the military. And you can't ask them, as a CO, if they are gay. There was no direction at the highest level before that. Clinton established that.

When Clinton introduced Don't-Talk-Don't-Tell, the first acknowledgement and approval of gay people in the military by an Adminstration. The first steps in a public, countrywide discussion framing gay people as the serviceman next door, and not just flamboyant twinks with AIDS.

I hear 'established dems' and I stop listening. I lived through establishment dems in the 80's and 90's give America the best LGBTQ+ freedoms it had ever seen. There are people that want LGBTQ+ to not exist, and then there is the Democratic Party. It's that simple.
