For #TFTuesday this week, we've got a friend of @mewcariolu.bsky.social finding themselves smaller after picking up a certain mouse's whip... 🐁

I went on to write a ~90 page undergraduate thesis in college about the role of religious traditions in the Pokémon game world (up through Black & White at the time) and have since chewed on the texts of other games like FFXIV in a similar way. I remain an absolutely humongous nerd.

Dad said I wasn't to buy the game that day. I was too excited to question it. In store, I picked out as much as my youthful savings allowed. Turns out Dad intended to pay for all of it & told them to add a copy of Colosseum. Jirachi bonus disc too! Here's my age 14 scrapbooking about it:

I got to go to the Pokémon Center in NYC for the Pokémon Colosseum release party because I qualified for and took a scholarship exam and scored well enough to win a full 4-year ride to the private (Catholic) area high school of my choice. My dad took me on the trip as a reward and blew my tiny mind.

Studying directly from the collections was such a treat. I saw insects that hadn't even got official species names yet & once a tray of extinct bees. I frequented the actual museum's butterfly room where they sometimes had Atlas moths & other saturniids. What a special place to have to lose.

Some sketchbook pages from last month contemplating the beautiful medieval manuscripts I got to see this summer. I think I'll be revisiting that inspiration for a while!
