I definitely don't think all romance novels need to model ideal behavior, but I am just not the audience for romance that is not interested in how power shapes the way we get to love & have sex and right now brushing that off feels more upsetting than usual given our backsliding rights.

and there are a lot of reasons but one is that it's not just a situational abuse of power. you are talking about someone who is most likely in the most vulnerable position they will be in for the rest of their lives & the stakes for them are quite possibly "their entire career destroyed"

I pointed out that the fact that our "default" last time was 25% and so just selecting default this time and trusting it will be correct is very stressful and she agreed. They seem to at least be aware of this as an edge case now so hopefully manual review will deal with it. "Hopefully" Argh

* if you want the best chance of everything going smoothly, you can update allocation one more time and mark all of the authors as rightsholders & ask for the default this time * she says money will be split between all valid claims, nothing going to an imaginary publisher * do this ASAP

Things I was told: * the site is not being updated in real time but if you submitted an updated allocation it has been moved to "disagreements" to trigger a manual review of all potentially conflicting claims * they are planning to review these before Nov payments go out & not just skip them

Okay, here is what I was told after many many many different checks. This applies to people in my specific situation which is: - Self-published books with multiple authors - whose original allocation was set as agreement - but 50% was split between the authors and 50% was going nowhere

(I failed out of like 3 different universities because of undiagnosed ADHD and by the time I went back the last time for programming, I already lived with Mr. Bree so that 1.5 terms before I failed out the first time was the closest thing to "normal" college I ever got)
