I love stuff like this. Residents of history are rarely allowed to be just normal people, but when I see a photo like this I'm reminded they were us. Just a dude exercising their passion for photography, without some momentous sense of place.

I'm morally opposed to capital punishment, but as a medical professional it boggles my mind how incompetent these holdout states are at carrying it out. There are many ways to kill a person relatively quickly and without, as far as we understand, inflicting serious pain. The torture is a choice.

We're having our first next month, a baby girl. How did you balance leisure time versus sleep when baby is sleeping? If baby is fussy, my partner and I plan to take it in shifts until I go back to work. I'm fairly prepared for the answer to be "leisure time doesn't exist".

AI superintelligence already described a specific kind of AI (that is, AI smarter than humans) before Trump's nonsense. To be contrasted to general intelligence - AI as smart as humans - and narrow intelligence, which is what modern AI remains so far. The bill bans superintelligence.

Philly's stadiums (other than the soccer stadium, unfortunately) are easily accessible off commuter rail. There's not much to see around them though, they're tucked in under south Philly near the airport.

Trees barely grow in the Meadowlands. Really bleak area overall - they turned a pretty unique ecosystem into a mess of concrete, highways, and industrial facilities. Terrible introduction to both New York and New Jersey for those visiting.

This has been my take. The Balogun suspension being lifted was a fairly obviously corrupt decision by a lot of people I don't like, but it's only the latest in a very long line of those kinds of decisions. I'll still enjoy the game and root for my side, and hope that one day FIFA will be better.

It was my choice to join the fire department. I even enjoy the adrenaline rush of a "good" call. It still sucks shit when I see dead kids and burned bodies. I still think arsonists are bad even though I volunteered to fight fire.

I won't pretend I love all my neighbors, but people are people. I've lived in California, New Jersey, Maryland, Oklahoma. I lived in the UK for a couple years. Most people care about the things that directly involve their day to day. For everything else, they fall back on prior belief.
