We send another Morrisey Lab alum into the wilds of academia-Dakota Jones starts his lab U Iowa later this Summer! It's been great having him the lab exploring lung fibroblast biology. Mentoring is one of our most important duties-and it's a big reason for #WhyWeScience!

That kind of skeptical, questioning, "don't accept what authority tells you" attitude of science - is also nearly identical to the attitude of mind necessary for a functioning democracy. They have very consonant values and approaches, and I don't think you can have one without the other.

It is the responsibility of scientists never to suppress knowledge, no matter how awkward that knowledge is, no matter how it may bother those in power; we are not smart enough to decide which pieces of knowledge are permissible and which are not.
