60fps is already smooth. The point of a high frame rate is primarily to improve response time. This does the exact opposite. And honestly, I'm completely fine with 30fps and actually even prefer it for more story driven games. But when frame rate actually matters, 60 is more than enough.

The reason it won't die is because it's basic math and any amateur developer can make their own AI model fairly easily. The reason it will be reduced is because it is not and cannot ever be profitable with these large models in large datacenters. It's just unsustainable.

It won't die entirely, but the way we see it used right now absolutely will. It won't be a free/cheap tool that most people have access to. It won't be massive datacenters. It will be reduced to smaller, more locally run stuff and won't really be able to do this kind of thing.

Like even when you had early PS3 only games, they were basically still games that started development on PS2 but just didn't continue that branch of code forever. Sure PS5 and XSeries could have done that too but that's not really making any more use of the new system, it's just a paywall.

Umm didn't they not avoid that? There are a lot of cross gen games and while sure some games were exclusive it's not because they couldn't have realistically released a last gen version. And that's the case with pretty much every generation's early exclusives.

Don't think it can. The only way you'd be able to count that is if Sony measured each console and checked how many consoles have ever had the game installed on disc vs digital. That would be the only way to measure used game installs alongside new.

They just don't understand that a huge portion of the digital games and dlc people buy are being bought by people who want to have the option to sometimes buy physical. They think anybody who buys those games will be just fine buying everything digital. That's far from true.

A solid 30fps game can be extremely enjoyable when done right. However that requires a very consistent frame pacing and picture quality, as well as good latency. Three things streaming games would be really bad at.

Streaming is something that makes sense for passive entertainment, stuff you don't need to interact with much, and stuff that doesn't require a lot of processing power to transmit to the consumer. It doesn't make sense for games.

Then there's the whole question of why they would want to deal with the massive costs of setting up and maintaining servers like that, when the hardware costs can just easily be passed on to the consumers via consoles and PC.

I just don't get why anybody in the business wants this. Everybody who tries it knows it is fundamentally a worse experience and that's not something that can even theoretically improve with time. There are physical limitations. Distance a signal needs to travel.

It's not 10%. What these companies don't understand is that a large portion of their digital revenue comes from customers that value the physical option, and only bought a console because it has a physical option. You don't just lose the physical revenue. You lose a LOT of the digital with it.

Pretty much all of the recent layoffs in the gaming industry are because of the way these companies are a slave to the demands of the stock market. And it's significantly hurting game quality as well.

In general I think not being publicly traded is overall a better thing for most companies, since they don't need to meet unsustainable exponential growth expectations, but in this case the new owners also kind of suck so that's a problem.
