I wrote about how local Palestinian American olive oil importers are contending with huge cost increases (from $275-$400 per jerrycan) in the olive oil they ship in from the West Bank. Some worry that settler violence will eventually eradicate this economically important Palestine-Chicago trade.

60 miles of tunnels run under the Chicago loop - a vast, utopian infrastructure project mostly abandoned by the mid 20th century. Retired steelworker Tom Wells documented them in 3d photographs in the late 80s. I wrote about trying to find the photos for @nplusonemag.com and @chicagoreader.com

This is one of the best food courts in the city and its tenants are threatened with rental increases that could could force them to close. The landlord in question (Jiazhao "Frankie" Chen) is $65m in debt and facing foreclosure on 37 properties. His staffer told me he is in China.
