Sure lol but the first sentence was “it’s actually good,” in the present tense, no qualifier. Just saying that if in order for this outcome to be good it requires a sea change in the law, it’s not “actually good” right now.

(To be clear I see that in this instance, they found no qualified immunity, but that’s a rare outcome)

But in what universe are we consistently landing on “qualified immunity no.” As things stand it just means people can’t go anywhere to seek redress. Would still call this bad given the actual state of the law. Doing only the first half without the second is worst case scenario

Just to respond to this specific question—poverty in NYC is highly correlated/concentrated by neighborhood (like in many other cities). Feels unlikely that well off people in well-served areas will travel longer distances to shop at the city grocery store, even if prices are lower

i consider myself genuinely patriotic. i love our music and our movies and a lot about our culture and its achievements. new york is in fact the greatest city in the world. we have so many beautiful people here. our elites have declared war on it but it's still worth fighting for. to me at least

Can you dip them à la Joey Chestnut, or do they need to be dry? Feel like a French dip situation could literally double up the numbers

Pick two: Metcalf, Dobbins, Swift (full ppr). Leaning towards Metcalf/Dobbins

Ahhh this makes so much sense. Didn’t even think about factoring in the junior/senior docket load discrepancy (among the other factors you mentioned). Regardless really appreciate you searching for me & thanks a ton for the detailed response

The only answer a lawyer can give when confronted with a purely statistical question: “it depends” (super interesting to know though thanks for pointing this out; if you have the thread handy would love to see it)

Not to try to assign homework, but might be interesting to hear on the pod if someone dug through the panel splits, broke out how many were majority Trump, and then did the math on how likely/unlikely that outcome was based on the entire circuit’s partisan makeup (if it turns out to be improbable)

Completely correct but “unusually” is carrying a heavy burden here

I’m a lifelong New Yorker. I absolutely love this city. It’s simply untrue to say that “everything is a 15 minute bus ride away”, or imply that even a 15 minute bus ride (assuming it arrives right on time) isn’t a significant barrier to elderly folks, or other people with physical limitations.

This is a ridiculous statement. The NYC city council has identified multiple neighborhoods as “high need” in their supermarket needs index. Even USDA’s food research atlas (an under inclusive tool) highlights some low income-low access areas in NYC.
A shaded map showing supermarket needs throughout NYC. Another shaded map showing neighborhoods identified as food deserts by the USDA.
