There's a lot of tuning the small details to be done both visually and mechanically, but this is the happiest I've ever been with Onder and it's also very clear why. Feels good to have such a concrete direction to work towards, I have not ever really had that in the years I've been plugging away

I was reminded of tenderfoot tactics the other day. it's so dreamlike and wobbly and loose but has such a strong impressionistic truth to it. you're a band of goblin resistance fighters? fighting against a pervasive mist that corrupts and distorts everything, even seemingly the concept of space

The way you get casual people to play a fighting game is investing a lot of marketing and money on casual multiplayer game modes apart from typical 1v1 I will bet my life the first fighting game to actually attract and keep a casual audience will do this

at this point I'm not really convinced any classic old games have "bad" controls, all this shit literally comes down to familiarity and how willing you are to spend 30 minutes learning to play. You aren't getting filtered by outdated game design, you're just impatient
