🌬 Today marks the @unep.org's #CleanAirDay. Citizens have power too, and the winds of change are already blowing. This power needs to be backed by actions and data. That's why more4nature supports 5 cases exploring how civil society works with authorities to improve air quality compliance

Today, residents help to cover areas that are not monitored by the reference stations & contribute to the spatial and temporal resolution of air pollution models, assisting in particular to discern whether air pollution is higher in the area of Bærum than in Oslo during winter due to wood burning.

By installing low-cost air quality sensors outside their homes, once calibrated, they could provide acceptable PM2.5 measurements around them. And that’s how the Oslo-Bærum Bylab was born.

Some conclusions are: ✅ Appointing government representatives as contact points between citizens and authorities. ✅ Developing a clear roadmap for citizen engagement, including formal and regular dialogue. ✅ Establishing national policies that guarantee annual funding, expertise, and resources.
