I'm a bit sad... I don't think that we'll (meaning the MM family) be able to swing the ferals and Mr. MM going with me to my conference in Florida in November... I then quick turn around and fly to Chicago to defend and present my DNP project... and I hope they'll be able to attend that.

Progress for me in prioritizing my own wellbeing looked like declining to present at a conference and instead asking if I could in the spring. Normally I would push through. But between all the things I just can't fake it right now. We'll blame low ferritin *giggle*

Thoughts oh wise ones... perhaps a teen with lacerations/ripped puncture wounds fairly deep both greater than 1 cm in length from perhaps an animal comes in - goes through the vermillion border (both) do you present to the ER, UC, or ER and ask for plastics??? Doing a bit of a poll.

In case anyone does not know... September is Sepsis Awareness Month... What does that mean? It means know what sepsis looks like, do not minimize the signs and treat appropriately. As a sepsis survivor who minimized my own symptoms I was lucky. But recovery took years. @sepsisalliance.bsky.social

@shematologist.medsky.social well at least I am able to interpret my own blood work. Congrats - you have iron deficiency anemia and WOW... that ferritin level is nonexistent... Me - that explains the pale sclera and gums... 🫠 On to some iron infusions for me. SMH...

Recap of last week... Brother has 2nd inferior wall MI, hot water heater breaks/replaced, washing machine breaks/replaced, house renovation continues, work/school & for the icing on the poop cake - Mr. MM has to go to the ER today for a kidney stone. I need a witch to put a blessing on us.

On July 1st I started a new position and I'm in love with it. If you had told me that I wouldn't have to figure out a 5 way trade & sell my kidney to get the day before 18's grad party off 6 months ago I would have said in my dreams. It may be the honeymoon period, but I'll take it.

We always wanted a way to prevent cancer… we have it. Educate… encourage… and address parent and patient concerns. We have such a huge knowledge deficit. We have to communicate.

I just… put my new work schedule in my phone. I’m not sure what to do with this… the last almost 5 yrs I’ve answered yes if I could do an extra shift. Coverage… etc. I’ve kept all the balls in the air… and only learned to say no in the last yr.

Whoever thinks putting a resident with me - listen - she sees crazy things and somehow manages to pull out information from patients that you are not expecting. She also has a unique way of interacting with patients - which is code for - I am very very real with them. Not in a judgemental way.

Help! I am actively working on my MIL's level 3 medicare appeal... 1 - I'm slowly working through it. 2- her SNF/rehab facility is absolutely no help 3- I'd love to have her in our home, but our home renovations have hit a big old snafu, long story.

Last week I went to Chicago to present my DNP proposal. I've only driven through. I had to go alone due to all the family stuff and Mr. MM did not believe that Moose wouldn't end up on the news alone in a hotel room while I was presenting. I left invigorated about nursing & that caring matters.

I am grappling with some feelings of inadequacies... or hurt? Not sure. I gave my 90 day notice and offered to stay on, but in a limited, more flexible role & pretty much do just about anything 1 possibly 2 days a week. It was rejected... I know I'm a people pleaser & need to get over it...

I'm in the process of filing a 3rd appeal w Medicare for my MIL who had a right basal ganglia stroke (sounds like multiple tiny infarcts) that has L sided weakness. I picked the wrong subacute rehab. That's on me. :( I've read her reports - she's declined...

Send up prayers/positive thoughts my MIL was initially hospitalized for a kidney stone on Friday. This morning around 4 she developed left side weakness. Unclear why she wasn’t a candidate for tpa. She’s transferred to Saginaw from Sandusky. We’re juggling our kids, my mom, and my FIL so it’s a lot.

Who wants to place a bet on how long it will take my happy butt to get to work tomorrow. For context I typically leave at 0715 or 0730 to get there by 0900... Winter weather - resulted in me taking over 2 hrs to get home. I think I left at 1910 and got home at 2140 give or take. I need to teleport.

I stumbled upon “In Shock” by Rana after my septic shock debacle (better than What Mr MM calls it) and it spoke to me on a level that I couldn’t explain. I tell everyone about her story. And remind people to stop dehumanizing patients, stop and listen. But what happens after the shock.

Happy Nurses Week! I have been a nurse for over 20 years I still think it was the best choice for me. Now as a FNP I bring all those figure it out skills to my patients. Nurses - will figure it out. I used to say I will go to you, I will go around you, I will go through you to help my patient.

I may have gotten snarky in a meeting & was more assertive than typical. 2 physicians felt that I was unprofessional. (FYI - they said nothing to me)I rewatched the video. I snarkily pointed out that typically a yes/no response takes a long time (I said 1-2 yrs) I stand behind what I said.

This month has been... A LOT. I'm not even sure where to begin. March 12 - was the 21st anniversary of my dad's death. I always talk about how I know he's with me even now and I do. I had a meeting that day & I could hear him in my head saying. Don't dim yourself for others.

So today I had my mammogram - annual. I had my annual CBC, CMP, and TSH... my kidneys remain happy, my platelets while not plentiful are present and above any worrisome number.. and my TSH... well I likely need to decrease the dose again as I continue to lose weight.
