I think we shouldn’t underestimate the sheer amount of troll farms and bots running rampant through every facet of social media and how easy it is for people to manufacture outrage - even if it’s just to monetise it. A lot of hate targeted at queer media feels particularly vicious.

No! It came out in 2025 and received generally *positive* reviews. It did well on the festival circuit, because everyone there understood that it's a low budget animated film production by a first time director, and they were able to be normal about that.

I worked with dolphins and know too much about whales to be able to take this movie seriously. Also I’ve had to put my arm down a dolphin’s throat to pull out the leaves that it had eaten in a veterinary procedure so I guess it’s even harder to suspend disbelief knowing cetacean digestive systems

Technically dolphins don’t give each other names. They first learn their mother’s signature whistle as calves and then they develop their own signature whistle from there - a distinct and unique identifier, which other dolphins learn and will then use to connect with that individual dolphin.
