I don’t really believe in the afterlife or any of that, but even still removing all of this from someone’s grave and mixing it up with a bunch of other people’s belongings feels so cruel to me.

I think one of the worst parts to me is that it’s not all from one person. The sarcophagus is from a woman, the mummy is a completely unrelated man. All of the ornaments and little statues are from various other people.

There’s a mummy exhibit at my local museum and the older I get the sadder it makes me. It’s just heartbreaking going through that room now.
