I'm a big fan of the Neo Kingdom book, because it's really more of a binder with various pages inside. This is what Aegis usually carries. She can do a lot of arcanima in her head, she has many spells memorized. And she has tattoos for some of the more complex spells. For both Scholar and Summoner.

Why is this game lying to me? That's clearly a red Behemoth, not a Catoblepas. You aren't fooling me. Those mfers have plagued me enough in deep dungeons and the Crucible.

Looky what I got in the mail! Homunculus Tears and Deadbeats! #booksky

Deadbeats, written by Chris Lackey and Chad Fifer. Illustrated by I. N. J. Culbard

Description:
On the run from the mob, a trio of 1920’s Chicago Jazz musicians take a job from an elderly reverend, playing for what they think is his wife’s funeral in the backwoods of Illinois. Unfortunately, the funeral is actually an elaborate cult ritual to raise the spirit of an evil sorcerer who swiftly begins raising the dead and terrorizing the innocent townsfolk. With monsters, moonshiners and mobsters on their trail, the friends must draw upon their various talents to stop this evil, save the townspeople and escape with their lives.

Homunculus Tears: Alchemy for the Brokenhearted by Inori., illustrated by Aonoshimo

Description:
Amid a prolonged conflict between humans and demons, humanity stands on the brink.
The protagonist, Maha, is a powerful human alchemist fighting on the frontlines. One day, however, Maha’s mother, Diriyah—who is also an engineer—announces that she has achieved a breakthrough by successfully creating a “Homunculus” through the use of alchemy.
According to Diriyah, with the Homunculus to stand in and fight, humanity can triumph over the demons without further sacrifice of human lives.
Paying little heed to the rejoicing troops, Maha—who has only ever found purpose on the battlefield—is shaken by the prospect of losing the only meaning in life she has ever known.

“If I’m not even expected to fight… What exactly am I supposed to do?”

This is a story about overcoming the despair of having never wanted to be born.

Also visible, some glowing stars.

I was supposed to spend my day off cleaning so I could actually let people in tomorrow. But my brain is such a mess that I woke up late, ate some cereal and watched twin peaks, then played Fallout 4 all night and forgot to eat again until midnight Why am I like this? This just increases my anxiety

Decided to try this game on a whim. I'm liking it so far. It feels like a mix of Infinity Nikki and Pokémon Legends Arceus. I made Aegis as best I could. #Amiino

Aegis in human form in the game Amiino. Her left eye is glowing blue with a black sclera and her right eye is the usual gray with blue limbal ring. She's wearing a blue hooded cloak with a yellow star on the chest.

Behind Aegis sits her Amiino friend, Lunara. A white fox with light blue accents and bright blue eyes.

I admittedly didn't make much progress in my book in August. However, I started work on a second book with a very different vibe. It's very melancholy. I've been reading a lot of melancholic books lately and rewatching Twin Peaks, so I'm in a weird headspace for it. Will probably play more SH too.

I quite liked The Forest Grimm duology by Kathryn Purdie. Narrated by Sarah Ovens. It's an interesting take on Grimms' fairy tales and has a nice romantic plot. And I just love Sarah Ovens 💕

"Can love survive what the forest hides?"
The Forest Grimm by Kathryn Purdie
#1 New York Times Bestselling Author

Illustration: A girl resembling red riding hood, and a man with a red scarf, hold each other close in a dark twisting forest. Wolf eyes lurk in the background.

Book Description:
In the dark heart of the Forest Grimm, lurks the Wolf, an omen of demise for seventeen-year-old Clara. Ignoring her grandmother's ominous divinations, she is determined to brave the dangers of the forest in order to retrieve Sortes Fortunae, an enchanted book with the power to lift the curse plaguing her village and maybe even save her mother.

Sortes Fortunae was once used by the villagers to obtain their deepest desires…until someone used it to kill. Its magic tainted, the creeping branches of the Forest Grimm snatched the book away and doomed the village to destruction. Every attempt to make amends with the forest proved disastrous, and whenever someone crossed its dark border, they were swallowed whole.

Desperate to break the curse, Clara and Axel, her closest companion, brave the shadow-strewn forest. But the Forest Grimm―alive with sinister, deadly twists on some of our most well-known fairy tales―has a mind of its own, and each twist and turn will test not only their courage, but also the strength of their bond.

"Happily never after"
The Deathly Grimm by Kathryn Purdie
#1 New York Times Bestselling Author

Illustration: a woman in red and a howling wolf stand before a vast forest

Book Description:
Emerging from the shadows of the Forest Grimm, Clara and Axel return to their village, the one place they can be safe behind the forest's border. But when the woods begin luring villagers into the forest, it becomes clear that the darkness they battled was merely a whisper of the true horror lurking there.

Burdened by unsettling visions and bound by a love as perilous as the cursed woods that call to them, Clara and Axel must once again enter the forest to unearth the sinister secret at its heart. As they fight murderous woodsmen wielding riddles sharp as blades, spectral maidens who threaten to drag them into an eternal dance, and phantoms able to use the very essence of the forest against them, Clara and Axel realize the stakes are higher than ever. If they can’t break the curse once and for all, they may not have a home to return to…

Del has two rules. One: Stay away from royalty. Two: Don’t fall in love.
The first is because Del is secretly Adeleine Ventris, runaway princess. After the death of her sister at the hand of her lover, Del has fled her family, home, and all the responsibilities that come with being the queendom’s new daughter-heir—but not before faking her death and magically constructing a new, mirrorwoven face. No longer recognizable as Adeleine, she’s now just Del, a simple musician who knows nothing of court life and can disappear to the faraway opaline lagoon-city of Salato.
The second is because the enchantment hiding Del’s identity can only be unraveled by true love’s kiss. But that’s just fine—Del’s had enough of love.
When Del breaks Rule One and becomes court-bard to the new First of Salato, she is resolved to at least keep her head down and stay well out of politics—until she realizes sweet, gentle Clara, the young figurehead who trusts too easily and loves too much, may be the one person less prepared to govern than Del herself. And if Clara loses her throne, Del loses the tenuous new job and life she’s found in Salato.
As Del’s deceptions grow ever larger and more precarious—and as she grows closer to both Clara and Nasca, Clara’s brilliant, dangerous sister—it will take only the slightest push to bring Del’s house of cards tumbling down.
Like, for example, breaking Rule Two.

I had the urge to make Merry, my clumsy idiot witch, in FFXIV. And since story skips are on sale... I may have bought one for her... lol Sadly I can't actually use this hair on her cause it's no longer available... Anyways, enjoy this little interaction with her and Penny. #ffxiv #amwriting #yuri

Merry Fairweather, an absentminded witch with eyes only for her beloved Penelope.

Her uniform is trimmed in blue and she has green eyes and purplish brown hair.

As I made my way towards the cafeteria my focus was on my handheld. I had jotted down the directions so I wouldn’t forget where to go. Unfortunately I wasn’t looking where I was going and ran head first into someone.
“Oof!” I squeaked out as I fell down, my handheld clattering to the floor.
“Hey! Watch where you’re going!”
“I-I’m sorry… I…” I looked up and to my surprise it was Penny standing over me with a scowl on her beautiful face. “Oh! M-Miss Penny…!”
“Oh, of course it’s you.” She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “Listen here, country girl. I don’t know what your deal is, but you better straighten up. I can’t have some clumsy bumpkin always getting in my way!”
She kicked my handheld towards me and then walked away with a huff, her ponytail swaying as she walked. She was so cute when she scolded me like that. I watched her go for a moment before getting up and brushing myself off. I hurried off to the cafeteria.
