And here, inhabiting the vessel while keeping Noelle alive means there is no angel, and no final confrontation to be had as Kris already found their freedom. Like side A, the world is saved, and like side B, you can continue you business in the world.

In side B, Kris is no longer a factor. You're able to explore the broken world as you please, a story with no true end. But, if you go between the lines... obtain the shadow crystals and the thorn ring, you can unlock the twisted sword - and free Kris without outright killing them.

In side A, you've fulfilled your purpose. Kris doesn't need you anymore so they let you go. If you have the shadow crystals, Kris and Susie's dreams of being with Noelle again allow her to manifest as a darkner in Castle Town. She's with you in the dark.

But while the prophesied ending won't change, what happens after does. The story only truly diverges during the epilogue once one side has claimed victory and the prophecy is no longer able to hold you back.

At the Angel's Heaven, the three heroes and angel meet, acting as the final confrontation of the game. In side A, you possess Kris and slay the angel, while in side B you possess the angel and slay the three heroes. The final tragedy... the girl has to die. In side A, Noelle. Side B, Susie.

What we're seeing during side B isn't the creation of the knight, but the creation of the Angel. After Kris and Noelle drown, we as the vessel will steal their souls, essentially becoming a soul fusion of Kris and Noelle.
