While #synod decided my life and relationship is incompatible with Christian discipleship, I graduated as a Doctor after 5 long years of medical school. Turns out queer, trans and disabled Christians can do AWESOME things. #generalsynod

So proud to announce that I am going to be a published poet! My submission was written as an ode to what this body I have allows me to do, even when this body doesn’t always feel like mine. Devour the whole anthology Summer 2026!
Background is a vertical trans flag
Text reads ‘I am being published in; Trans Poetica Transcendent Joe for troubling times’ ‘in collaboration with three small presses’
Logs of written off publishing, Punk dust poetry and Allograph are at the bottom

To all those we have lost, we say: We remember them. To all those who survive, we say: We cherish them. To all those who fight on, we say: We protect them.

All of my (3!) @greenbeltfestival.bsky.social wristbands attached to my hodgepodge crochet lap blanket made from the last bits of yarn from many different projects, all come together for one creation stitched at this year’s festival. Feels quite apt really.
A crochet rectangle large enough to go over a knee with stripes of different colours. Three fabric wristbands are sewn on in year order.

It’s my birthday! I’m 22 today and I currently try to stay relatively anonymous on here but if you’d like to know a little more about me just know this is what my housemates got me and they know me VERY well.
On a kitchen table with some scribbles over faces and names, in front of a bouquet of yellow and pink flowers.
Rosé Prosecco, choccy cake, daisy candles, a pasta bowl, a yellow mug, a travel cup and a 200 piece buildable penguin.

I was honoured to be asked to preach today at my worshipping community. These were my closing thoughts, which I said through tears as I realised that as I said ‘You are beloved’ I truly meant it and believed it about those in front of me, and of myself. The Spirit is moving and I am embracing Her.
How are we to show this radical love to those around us? How do we go about loving not as we wish to be loved, but as Christ loves us? How do we embrace the perceived-to-be-unclean? I think it starts with having ‘no further objections’ to knowing that we cannot ‘stand in God’s way’. We have to shed the rules we think dictate who is right and who is wrong. We have to watch how the Spirit transforms lives. We have to give ourselves up to being Christ’s body. We have to build a Body of the church that enfolds the outcasts. You are not impure. You are beloved. Washed clean in the blood of the Lamb, always acceptable in the eyes of God, created and made inherently ‘good’. That goes for us all, don’t try to stand in God’s way, just let God lead you and you might just get to see how much more reckless God’s love can be.

my only thoughts as we come to the end of @transhistoryweek.com this year are perfectly summed up by this placard from the Museum of Transology i saw last weekend. My life is worth the effort.

Highly recommend a good strut on a treadmill to chapell roan whilst reading Thomas Jay Oord’s most recent book. I’m just like all the other grls… I just also have a special interest in theology 😌

and despite it all, we continue. Reading, in the sun, looking at flowers I planted on Friday. A craft project by my side, messages from friends waiting to be answered. Soil on my crocs, freshly washed and dried scrubs. #tinyjoys
A book by Claire Williams entitled Peculiar Discipleship: An Autistic Liberation Theology is on a knee. You can see garden furniture, sunlight bouncing off a glass table top and a trough of yellow and purple violas in the background.

Grief can’t be soothed, but sitting with it is the closest I get. So tonight’s agenda: finally cut out the pattern I’ve wanted to try out for a month, icecream and being honest in my prayers.

Finally been able to read @karenod.bsky.social Survival thanks to a chaplain. Devoured in 48 hours, but can’t stop myself from coming back to the realisation that my life revolves around making my existence more comfortable for my oppressors. Bit much to be thinking about on a Monday morning!
Text in a book reading: ‘Srinivasan highlights what she terms 'affective injustice, which she defines as 'the injustice of having to negotiate between one's apt emotional response to the injustice of one's situation and one's desire to better one's situation - a conflict of responsibilities that are all but irreconcilable.'14 The injustice is that one might have to moderate one's affective responses (that is, not appear angry) in order to better (or at least not worsen) one's situation. This is a psychic tax that is levied on victims of oppression.’

It’s a housemate’s birthday and we go FULL OUT. The gold fringe is absolutely staying up all year. We can see it bringing us joy in the pits of medicine finals revision in June….
Gold fringing over an open doorway, in the background there is a grey sofa with balloons on it and Happy Birthday balloons strung above it.

My girlfriend asked for a cactus cushion, so obviously that was my Sunday craft this week whilst listening to @greenbeltfestival.bsky.social talks from last August that I missed out on when I was….probably sat with friends under a nice tree or crying to @flamygrant.bsky.social

As much as I love the month of yearning that advent gives me the excuse to experience I also *really* like decorating Christmas trees with people I love…

A love note to my Queer Siblings whose lives are being debated in Synod as if they aren’t already completely and utterly loved and blessed by God.
An embroidery hoop with the words ‘You are already blessed’ in the centre. A rainbow comes out from behind You Are and there are dots around the outside in trans and pride flag colours

Finished my embroidery of the Magnificat during a church service this morning where joy and fear filled me simultaneously. I love Gaudete, and I love engaging with a faith that doesn’t have to be simple and embraces the complexities of life.
An embroidery hoop mostly covered in purple writing, which says the Magnificat. At the bottom in a pink advent candle and the words ‘Magnificat anima mea Dominum’ in a darker pink. It is all embroidered.

Ending the week by leading a reflection on bodies, community and 1 Corinthians 12 was a big high. As was the fish and chips I devoured immediately afterwards.
Screenshot of a PowerPoint title slide reading ‘The Body of Christ is TRANS’. The slide is decorated in the colours of the trans and non-binary flag and there is a white scribble in the middle, concealing personal details.
