Are you a social scientist who studies religion, looking for a way to make a big impact on both the field and the public's understanding of religion? I hope you'll consider applying to become the next editor of the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion @jssreligion.bsky.social

🧭 What happens to immigrants’ attitudes toward other immigrants? New #OpenAccess article with @evs-values.bsky.social shows group empathy drives positive immigrant attitudes early on, but assimilation makes views align with natives over time. 👉 compass.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

So it turns out the whole age-period-cohort thing goes way back, with super cool graphs being generated *in the 1870s.* Check out Keiding (2011): onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
(Perozzo, 1880a, Tab. V). This representation of the development of the Swedish population 1750–1875 was redrawn by Perozzo from a similar (black) stereogram by Berg (1860). The representation corresponds to Zeuner's stereograms with a (cohort, age) diagram in the horizontal plane. The red lines represent censuses (cross-sections at fixed calendar years) and the blue lines represent the survival of cohorts.(Zeuner, 1869, Figure 1). The Zeuner sheet. Z is the number of individuals born at time Y and still alive at age X.
