- impressive to be v upbeat on some tracks without coming off as saccharin - (corrections!) appreciating the directness of the lyrics on the latter half of the album, look, you can just sing about hacking terminals with full emotional sincerity, its really good (12 - Retaliation)

- presume the lyrical shift is partly due to irl developments. prev tapped into a conspiracy-cyberpunk narrative milieu (think deus ex) which now brushes up real-world paranoias (and actual reality). had a brief vanishing fear we were going to get a "5g/chemtrais/vaxxed r bad" album :[

- lyrics seem to have gradually become less personal/introspective, instead more external and general, vague even (maybe "evocative" is the nicer way to put it). feels like theres less of an explicit narrative in the first half of the album (until Little Miss Vicious)

-production is, as usual, impeccable - melodies, graceful arpeggios, its what youd expect from MIAB but never outright predictable, theres a sonic continuity right back to Lost Alone but clear evolution - some more innovation here wrt vocal production (interesting glissando? on brother war vox)

impression so far (first listen through) - really great to have a proper stereo system set up to hear the (as is v usual) layered rich complexity of the tracks, you will not fully appreciate MIAB without proper speakers or good headphones - its softer, gentler , than the last album, its beautiful

also, keep a production diary, a book you can write notes in, scribble ideas when stuff is exporting, track changes that might get missed between versions i was keeping notes on my pc but read some interview, maybe Shikhee (Android Lust) emphasising that a physical notepad worked better - it does
