Someone painted racist and antisemitic graffiti on a playground a few minutes from my house. I saw some commenters on Facebook claiming it was kids who probably didn't know what the words and symbols meant. That's BS. Whoever did it absolutely knows what it means, regardless of their age.

Baking Fail (see alt text in the image): I was baking cookies for our back to school night bake sale--chocolate cookies with peppermint and white chocolate chips. I brazenly ignored the part of the recipe that said to flatten the cookies and piled them up, assuming they would spread in the oven.

The 10-year-olds came to high school with me the last two days and did about 80 percent of the same work my students did. But between teaching (partly in un-air conditioned rooms), managing them, and running my first two days of after-school play rehearsal, I am SO. FLIPPING. TIRED.

I made salsa verde again tonight and used a different kind of pepper this time (poblano instead of jalapeno). Roasted the pepper whole instead of cutting it up and taking out the seeds first. The salsa was SO much spicier than last time.
