I'm not sure if y'all saw a CNN report on how the US had almost started WW3 with China based on fabricated information generated by a chatbot, claiming that a Chinese vessel was carrying components of nuclear weapons. That was an "existential threat" to humanity www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Using Scrooge to attempt an onscreen rehabilitation of Malthusian views of the poor is a choice, given the character was created specifically to eviscerate those sorts of people (as well as the obvious critiques of industrialists and owners and so on).

Following the news that the company that printed 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine has entered administration, our droids have worked tirelessly to find alternative printing facilities and maintain the flow of Thrill-power.

Rebellion is delighted to announce that there will be no delay with newsstand editions of 2000 AD and the Judge Dredd Megazine – those sold through newsagents and comic book stores. 2000 AD #2498 will be on shelves this week and future issues will be released as scheduled.

We are still working to ensure that our loyal 2000 AD subscribers get their issues and there may be some delays with copies arriving by post, but we are doing everything possible to minimise any disruption. Digital subscriptions will not be affected by any delays.

We thank everyone for their patience and messages of support over what has been a very difficult few days.

Warren Ellis may have meant Elijah Snow or Spider Jerusalem to depict how he views himself but his biggest self-insert character was Rorkannu from Nextwave, a pathetic, self-aggrandizing loser who's just in it for cash and Suicide Girls
Excerpt from Nextwave of a metal-faced goon from the Beyond Corporation offering a little cash to a blue-flame-headed demonic entity parodying Dr. Strange's Dormammu. The dialogue reads:
Goon: "Um…I have a hundred on me."
Rorkannu: "Yes. Give me your hundred. Yes! I have a hundred of the Earth dollars! Ahem. This is acceptable to dread Rorkannu. Yes. And the girls. I like those 'Suicide Girls.'"
Goon: "Suicide Girls."
Rorkannu: "On the website. The girls with tattoos and piercings. I like those. No blondes."

This sounds bonkers and then you realize it’s merely a boringly factual statement of what actually happened. He needs to marched in chains & an orange jumpsuit to jail for the rest of his life.

The thing you don't realise about grief, until it comes, is how utterly exhausting it is. Your heart is running at full capacity, filled to the brim with love that has nowhere to go, from the moment you wake to the moment you fall asleep.

A day of rest, as the Lord decreed.
A cat and a book on top of a duvet on top of a pair of legs (of which the feet are sticking out) on a sofa. A star lamp hangs in the tall, thin window behind them.

Sharing this again because it just doesn't stop being relevant: the racism and spite of Reform isn't a logical or coherent political philosophy, "they want revenge, they want their wages of Britishness".

Also it is not the 80s any more! A huge part of bringing up teens now is teaching them that this stuff they cannot avoid online is *not* the world and they can and must regulate their information intake and yes building a “safe space” can be part of that

Companion when preparing for podcast. Companion when recording podcast.
A home office with green walls and a desk in the background. A pair of legs stretches out from a grey sofa into a red office chair. On those legs is a similarly long cat.A fish eye photo of a desk, dominated by the long arm of a podcasting microphone, which sits on a book. Beside it is a laptop with a green tardigrade stress you by the keyboard.

Just heard the long, slow sigh of the carpet behind me as The Boy stretched into a new pretzel shape...
A cat, laying on grey carpet under a desk in a green-walled room. It has twisted into a curl with its hind legs together in a prawn-like configuration

Defending human rights is the right thing to do. But it’s also – despite the impression you might have from politicians and the media – the *popular* thing to do: a majority of the public supports human rights and doesn’t want to leave the ECHR.

fundamentally the problem is that if you think "hotels are where I stay on holiday and I like being on holiday so living in a hotel must be fun and it's not fair others get to do it and not me" then you have the intellectual reasoning of a little child and it's going to be hard to engage with you
