Back at the Hartenstein Hotel / Airborne Museum Oosterbeek for a weekend of wargaming for the public. Feel free to drop in and have a look

It would be Mäuse in plural. Anyway, I don't get the fascination for this totally bollocky thing. Virtually no cross country capability, no way to move it by road as any bridge on the way would have collapsed, no way to move it by train anywhere but in the steppes, a sitting duck to artillery.

Great painting, Gareth! The figures also interact nicely

We‘re truly living in a golden age of wargaming.

So, I’m going to be auctioning the We Are Legion Diorama (below) with all money (rounded up to the nearest £50/100) going to The Alzheimer’s Society. Auction will be going up on Saturday and run for a week - will post the link when it’s up. It’d be great if you could all bid and spread the word!

Same here. Haven't touched a brush since end of march... can't see that changing sny time soon though 🥲

How about small gardens and such for the houses? Friend of mine did small animal pens with Renedra fences and herb gardens for his DA village, all connected by woodwn planks as walkway. Very pretty, but unfortunately I don't have any pics 🙄

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

That's fair enough. I did read it as Puma instantly, but that doesn't mean it must have been the inspiration. On second look you might actually be closer, like @tim-popelier.com with the M3 parallel. I can't help but think though that these parallels weren't needed in that setting. That's me though

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

I don't think it's dog whistling. GW represents a lot of what I don't like in the hobby, but they're certainly no closet-fascists. But I also don't think that any historical inspiration in 40k draws people into exploring historical wargaming.

020

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

Kind of. Together with the 40k Puma I think it will especially cater to a certain clientele within the 40k fandom

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 26/03/2026

You're probably right. My point still stands though.

I mean... SciFi is not really my thing but I kinda like them. But I can see a lot of Wehraboos sticking Balkenkreuze on them and painting their Krieg black with red armbands 🙄

After two days of this I‘d totally bin the lot and swear never to touch a brush again 😂

130

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 25/03/2026

It looks bloomin' awesome, so I'd say yes, it was well worth it. Especially as I didn't have to do it 😉

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 25/03/2026

Guys, you could do worse than give @justadpaints.bsky.social a follow, especially if you're into nicely painted miniatures. Just sayin'

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 25/03/2026

Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. As for the Sten, I'd let him grab it a little further down. When considering how one would hold such a thing in one hand in real life, always think about the center of gravity. Roughly the middle would be the most ergonomical position to hold it.

120

mOiterei_1984 🇺🇦 @moiterei.bsky.social · 24/03/2026

That's some first class painting right there! Love the Resistance chaps, but the doggos and their handlers came out great as well! I hope you don't mind a minor point I have regarding the leftmost miniature on the first pic. The way he's holding his Sten seems a little awkward to me.

Wonderful stuff John! Love your attention to details like the tools box. Too bad you can‘t bring it to ClogLard.

Human artists, use only one piece to persuade people to follow you. I don‘t consider myself an artist, rather a craftsman, but that doesn‘t mean I couldn‘t knock out a cool figure or two 😏

Always flummoxed by the amount of twittery in the hobby-sphere. I mean it's not like choice is something bad, right? And as you rightly pointed out, there's at least one faction in the GW franchise, that's got more than enough choice already

3D printed Sherman Firefly from Avernes Miniatures with AB tank commander and stowage. Shot in front of a HandiWorks Backdrop. Decals are 28mm Rubicon and work surprisingly well. #Wargaming #HistoricalWargaming #MiniaturePainting #MiniPainting

If you'd come just 3 weeks later you could have had a game or two at ClogLard, just 10 metres from the Urquhart house 😉
