Down to one little stub of a milkweed in my yard after the bunnies keep eating them. Fortunately swamp milkweed at Hawk Hollow garden is full of monarch adults and plump caterpillars, which (if you wait patiently) sometimes share a stem. #bugsky #nativeplants

Yesterday was Apache Trout Day! It's been two years since my hometown salmonid became the first sport fish to be delisted from the Endangered Species Act due to recovery. I have had the privilege to work on multiple restoration projects for "golden natives", and I hope their recovery continues! 🐟 🌎

Pickerel cove has both pickerelweed and pickerel (Esox). The main pickerelweed flowering event was late June into July, need to read more about this amazing plant. #nativeplants

Spotted Joe-Pye Eutrochium maculatum Joe was a real Mohican healer named Schauquethqueat (settler name Joseph Pye). He used the E. purpureum for fevers in the late 1700s. The legend of him saving a colonial town from plague is a myth. His memory is honored by the name nonetheless. #NativePlants

50% success with last year's paw paw crop! I'd given up hope but then noticed a familiar leaf amid the weeds. Had a higher hit rate last year but I'll take it. Need to figure out how to increase my dwarf chinkapin oak yield... #nativeplants
