I just aim for excess. Once I draw one scar there’s 20

Drawing a bunch of #dnd barbarians & fighters and realized I drew almost all of them covered with scars. Why are there not more scars on typical D&D character portraits? Or maybe there are a ton and I’m just missing them

the brazil thing is so depressing because they did the right thing, man they did what we couldn’t, they actually prosecuted their coup and threw bolsonaro’s ass in jail and generally showed the united states what a functional state looks like and now they are gonna elect his dipshit son? really?

It iiiiis also an objective problem that she becomes so into the drawing part she takes forever and is slow on the other homework 😅

Our daughter (6) is of an age when she gets homework that combines drawing & other skills (“write these words then draw them”). But like me she has a problem with excess detail to the point her teacher writes notes “dont draw so much”! 😓 If you don’t want a complex drawing dont ask for a drawing!!

? I mean, these states have comparable shameful histories, but they act pretty differently in the present.

Agree 100%. I don’t personally like using the term Zionism when arguing this stuff because I think it summons up racist associations (even though there are self-identified Zionists who use the term). But Israel as it exists is indefensible so call it what you will

The Greedy from Raggedy Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure (1977)
Screenshot of a cartoon: nightmarish being conjured from the depths of hell, the Greedy is made seemingly of custard, forming the entire landscape of existence. Raggedy Ann and Andy plus a blue stitched camel struggle to stay afloat in the Greedy's body while it looms over them with teeth made from lollipops.

In the same boat. Saw the Thing, Poltergeist, Jaws, Alligator, Alien, Sword and the Sorcerer, Conan the barbarian, Sorceress, all of that stuff in the theater or the drive-in. Almost all of those before I was 10 or 11. The most traumatic shit was on tv - Threads and The Day After. Awesome childhood.

Also watched “Poltergeist” in the theater at age… wtf, I was 7?? Or was it a revival after the original 1982 theatrical run? Anyway I was prepubescent. But I managed to survive this one by closing my eyes for large portions of the movie

At 10-11 also watched the 1945 “Picture of Dorian Gray” movie and ran away crying at the scare scene

I also read George RR Martin’s “The Monkey Treatment” (another body horror story) at about age 10-11. I threw the book behind a wall wardrobe so I could never see it again

Probably “Alien” (the movie) which I was obsessed with watching and watched on HBO at about age 10. I couldn’t make it past the robot scene! In terms of media actually intended for kids, the terrifying poem “Herbert Glerbett” by Jack Prelutsky where a child melts into a blob. Major cry-a-thon

Repeat my usual question about many stupid modern things I dont understand: why would anyone think this is a good idea If it’s a garbage business like cheap viagra then obviously they have nothing to lose. But some of these links appear to lead to real businesses

Jason Bradley Thompson @mockman.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
It’s weird when real businesses (apparently) pay for spam comments with a link to improve their SEO? I immediately delete the comment of course and I have also more than once gone to their website and sent them a form/email telling them to f*ck off

One of the many good throwaway bits in “Obsession,” a movie of bits, is when the characters speculate the female lead is acting weird because she’s just on ecstasy. This is accurate 🤪

“Backrooms”: did anyone else notice that the director said he is a huge fan of “Attack on Titan” and when you see the whole movie the influence is obvious

Oh lastly, I love that someone at HBO did a Backrooms-specific HBO logo opening sequence for the HBO version of “Backrooms.” 😂 Too bad we have to close our HBO account soon now that it’s owned by that bigot Larry Ellison

Jason Bradley Thompson @mockman.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
The idea of Backrooms as sorta a procedurally-generated infinite Roguelike glitch-world is so cool, & it’s cool that the movie plays this for horror, since in games it’s just taken for granted! 🤪 The childhood trauma aspect & evil megacorp aspect are more familiar… but the movie is so good it’s fine

Jason Bradley Thompson @mockman.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
“Backrooms”: Excellent movie, so creepy, great environments. I like a horror film which is about exploration (you go into the horror instead of it coming to you) and has a sci-fi element. The evil-corporation aspect is kinda a half-baked trope but it’s brief. Wonder how the sequel will turn out…

Backrooms: still need to finish this movie (limited time) but so far I love it so much. And it is so relevant 🤪 to #ttrpg dungeons! Such a rare pleasure to watch a horror movie which is about exploring a space. It’s even in the lower level of the “dungeon” where things start to get really bad…

Hmm, doing an illustration of B1 would be fun but a a little tricky because the monsters arent placed on the map (iirc). I would have to decide what rooms they go in and who’s in the rooms… which would be a cool opportunity, but different from the nebulous DIY nature of the original module..! 🤔
