New article from Emmanuel Levy'Lab : they discovered that missense mutations in homomeric proteins can trigger supramolecular assembly but, remarkably, these folded protein assemblies are not toxic. A testament to cellular robustness!

Years ago we discovered that missense mutations in homomeric proteins often induces their supramolecular assembly, as in the 📽️👇 - Are such aberrant assemblies of *folded* proteins toxic? Surprisingly, NO. Cells are amazingly robust systems! Paper now online @molsystbiol.org doi.org/10.1038/s443...

Tubulin autoregulation tunes microtubule dynamics to support multicellular architecture and viability
Alpha- and beta-tubulin heterodimers dynamically assemble into microtubules, key cytoskeletal elements involved in intracellular trafficking, cell adhesion and division. The availability of free tubul...

d-cysteine impairs tumour growth by inhibiting cysteine desulfurase NFS1
Nature Metabolism - Zangari et al. show that d-cysteine targets NFS1, thus affecting Fe–S cluster biogenesis and impairing tumour growth.

Arresting mitosis with visible light! Brilliant Victoria von Glasenapp from the Gotta and Winssinger labs @UNIGE develops a cool photo-caged PLK1 inhibitor, which we deploy in 3D spheroids to control mitosis with exquisite spatio-temporal precision. Check out the original article: lnkd.in/eTnzy5Nc
