The open education movement is not something that happened - and ended - decades ago. In terms of OER, it's alive and well and about 25 years old. Developing an ecosystem of open source platforms, teaching and learning resources, data, and research is more critical than ever.

From what I have heard the decisions around platforms happen at admin levels with little input from faculty and librarians. Seems like it's vibe based and bad financial decision making? OR maybe short-term decision making?

In open education spaces there is a lot of discussion around the dangers of "platformization" and how decision-making around education is often offloaded to edtech companies and publishers at the detriment to both educators and learners.
