Watching Kill Jackie. Catherine Zeta Jones is a fucking delight in this role!

The Chapatis have fully activated demon mode today. Taking this as a big milestone in their settling in. Off to chance all my limbs by daring to change the bedding.

Bedtime. It would appear that Habshi decided earlier, in the wisdom of her 6 months, to leave me her toy mouse under the bedclothes. I returned it with my thanks. It's triggered nighttime zoomies x 3, on and around the bed. I'll go and make some tea, shall I?

A pootle round Action did not yield the broom I wanted, but it did provide a fantastic cast-iron pot for under 25 euros.

Binged East of Eden. Now watching The Boroughs.

And while I knit, with a sleeping Habshi on my lap, I'm watching East of Eden and marvelling at Hoon Lee.

This fucker has been sitting in a project bag, untouched, for about a year. I cast it on in 2024. I just finished the bottom ribbing. Two buttonbands and it'll be finished. #knitting #knitsky #ShowMeYourKnits

A dark grey, hand-knitted cardigan hangs from a wooden hanger. It's unfinished and has been an absolute ballache of a knit. But it'll be chuffing wonderful when it's finished.

I dozed off on the sofa. Realising now how wound up I've been about today's medical appointments (human and feline). Now the adrenaline has dropped, the fatigue has kicked in.

And that's all the Chapatis spayed. No kittens having kittens in my house, thank you very much.

That's Gaajar and Habshi dropped off. Phew.

Awake extra early, nearly an hour ago, flanked on almost all sides by purring kittens, two of whom are blissfully unaware that they're off to the vet soon to get spayed.

In other news, the Chapatis have been with me for a month. It's been the absolute best month for a very long time.

Tonight, I've a pot of chicken jambalaya simmering on the stove. Another dish that heralds autumn, and which I've not cooked since before Jan died. My heart hurts, and my tummy is rumbling. The Chapatis, who are in the midst of a growth spurt, have had some chicken and little bits of prawn.

Watching "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" - I just subscribed to the hated Netflix just to see this film - and I'm LOVING IT.

Attended a very specific meeting for the first time today, during which I told myself I'd keep my mouth firmly shut and just listen and take notes. Reader, I did not keep my mouth firmly shut.

Today was my first back in the office after three weeks, which means it was the first time I left the Chapatis for longer than four hours. They were thrilled by my return, and especially well behaved, it seems. No dirty protests, no injuries, no breakages in the apartment. Wins all round.

Another clarity-induced burst of rage this afternoon to round off the fortnight's annual leave. Off out with my bestie tonight for pizza, vino, and a trip to the pictures to see Pressure.

Watching Calendar Girls and I've been crying on and off for the last 30 minutes, because I went to see it at the pictures with Mum when it came out and I can hear her laughing every time I laugh.

Did I order a mega pack of cat-toy springs, purely because the Chapatis found two from Lola's time with me and lost their minds utterly? (Incidentally, I have no idea where they found them initially; I certainly hadn't seen them around the apartment.)

Rae of Sunshine @mmedebeauvoir.eurosky.social · 21/09/2026

Did I follow the Chapatis' example and have a nap on the sofa this afternoon? Why yes, yes, I did.

I'm nothing more than a sentient cat bed with opposable thumbs at this point.

Aloo is back from the vet's, minus his testicles, and in really great form; he gave us a rendition of the song of his people as soon as he saw me arrive to pick him up 😻 It's the turn of Gaajar and Habshi on 8 October!

First day of my leave. Back from the vet's with Aloo, just to get him registered and checked over. The vet is quite delighted with him, mucky ears and all. Back to see her on Wednesday, to get him neutered ✂️✂️✂️ and his siblings registered and checked over.
