No, I don't really have much resemblance to my avatar but... without anonymity I would likely be tracked down by my Cluster B personality disordered sibling so.... here we are.

We live in a time of parables, and the lesson in this man’s is that the suffering we are responsible for is much closer to us than we would like to believe. And that our obligations to our neighbor must therefore be held even closer.

I have the highest of IQs. I have the highest. I'm fine, and I understand that stuff. You know, my uncle was at MIT for 41 years, and you know, I'm a—I believe in genetics, frankly, and I understand. I understand it much more than I think any president would, because I do have an ability on this. I have an ability on those things that were the new frontiers.

By Trump's economic philosophy doesn't this mean we are trying to lose money to Belarus and they will be stealing from us?

Still centering everything around themselves The US is rapidly destroying itself but Canada is acting out of spite? Not so much We still have a functioning government and legal system, still support the ICC and UN. We are a long way from perfect but understand moving past the US is imperative

we’ve started an arms race of LLMs. there are a lot of good and noble applications of AI, but those also shouldn’t set aside the environmental, economic, and technological risks of AI built by people who don’t care much about the fate of their fellow humans

Stig was probably one of the best things that ever happened to me. He got me through so much, and was probably the calmest, quietest and most potato husky I have ever met. My first dog. The best dog. And on to his next adventure across the rainbow bridge. My life is less now. He was a huge presence.
A siberian husky, smiling and relaxing in the grass. The prettiest and bestest boy ever.

I"m looking through the regulations, I think only imported meat is required to have label of origin.
Country of origin
The words "Product of" /"produit de", followed by the name of the country of origin, must be declared on the label of an imported meat product in close proximity to the product's common name and in characters that are at least 1.6 mm in height, or 0.8 mm in height if the area of the principal display surface is 10 cm2 or less [210(2) and (3), 297(1) and (2), SFCR].

This applies whether or not the imported meat product is subsequently packaged or labelled in Canada without being manufactured or prepared in Canada [297(3), SFCR].

Also went today, checked all origin labels, returned some US product backwards so the next person can easily read it's 'merican. Store was sneaky about produce labels, called them out a few weeks ago for labelling US carrots as Mexican. Damn, so many gluten free products were from the US.

I cannot be convinced that Trump is not simply being led around by the nose. He doesn't even appear to know where he is most of the time (or when he's not sleeping in public). Look to project 2025, that IS an ideological commitment and outcomes result from it. globalnews.ca/news/1061764...
The measure is widely criticized as a means to retaliate against civil servants and flood the federal bureaucracy with individuals willing to bend the rules in pursuit of political aims. The Heritage Foundation has developed a database of prospective civil servants with conservative credentials who would be ready to fill Schedule F vacancies on the first day of a new administration.

Those appointees may also have little regard for the history and importance of international relationships with countries like Canada.

“You can imagine how chaotic the process would become if people with years of expertise and knowledge, and institutional memory, are all of a sudden replaced by a band of sycophants who don’t have that long-term understanding of history, the importance of the relationship, and why it needs to be nurtured,” Abelson said.

Analysts note the lower-level staff that would be affected by Schedule F help form the “hidden wiring” behind the Canada-U.S. relationship, working to manage bilateral agreements worked out by public-facing heads of state and cabinet members.

My favourite part: (he’s not wrong) He walked into this thinking he was shaking down a branch plant. He was actually picking a fight with his gas station, his grocer, his power company and his banker, all of whom turned out to be the same guy, and that guy ran two central banks.
