I love dragons, knights, and dark fantasy! So I wanna combine these various concepts in my drawing. I'm presently still actively learning, as I'm kinda new to more formal art. I recently discovered charcoal, and really love it. #portfolioday

A monstrous whalepig, a species of megafauna within my setting distantly related to whales.

An unreferenced graphite drawing. A "dragon knight", dragons of my setting are intelligent as people are, and are able to forge their own arms and armor. Why fight like a feral animal when you can beat humanity at it's own game?

Referenced sketch of an armored man. Reference used was Dequitem, a HEMA fighter who does armored fighting.

A faerie queen reclining upon the Myriad Throne. She holds a long sickle-like dagger in her (entirely unsketched) hand, with an expression of mild amusement. Even sitting, she's imposing. Standing, she's around 8 or 9 feet tall.

A burly northern man-at-arms looking suspiciously at something. He's no lordling, but he makes do with a good helmet, gauntlets, and mail beneath his long-sleeved surcoat and cloak for the cold winter weather of his home.

A rather prideful boreal dragon knight posing. A set of armor like this with such raised protrusions is not particularly common. What is more universal are sleeker but nonetheless beautiful designs. His wings are covered in a thick canvas.

A knight of the Chandravak kingdom, one of the first truly successful human realms on the Northern Continent. The descendants of puppet kings leal to the old dragon lords, the Chandravaks created monstrous war wyverns via a mix of selective breeding wild wyverns and blood magic, not dissimilar to Fae methods of creating "tailored" organisms. They fell due to infighting among wyvern riders, alongside the usual suspect of dragon attack.

A knight from the Esontori culture of the humid and flat eastern wetlands. They wear half-plate in their hot and humid home, and their brazen armor requires frequent upkeep. Around their waist is a bright aquamarine cloth, signifying this individual's pride in waterways. Perhaps they hail from the coast. The waistcloth is an old signifier of warriors in Esontor culture, and warriors are quite proud of them.

Mountain dragon profile portrait. Comparatively widespread across highlands, steppes, and mountains of the Eastern and Northern Continents, mountain dragons are the quintessential dragon to most. On the Northern Continent, they are known for their fearsome territoriality, and are feared in warfare.

A mountain dragon spraying fire in flight. Dragonfire (and ice, for that matter), is believed to be derived from a defensive oily spray similar to that of the fulmar bird. Dragons still employ it for defense against threats, but also famously in assaults against targets.

Plains dragon profile portrait. Part of a trio of dragons displaying the three species who inhabit the Northern Continent. As their name would imply, they inhabit open territory, usually in the arid and drier climates of the south.

Their skin is wrinkled, like a cassowary or condor's. This is to help disperse heat, and the neck wrinkles of males take iridescent colors as they mature, becoming growths loosely resembling wattles.

A boreal dragon knight. Their rigid armor depicts an icicle motif. A lightly built work of design, dragons have used magic to better understand their world, and taken advantage of that to create arms, armor, and structures based upon the natural world.

A sky priest howls their faith to the heavens, wreathed in electrified copper wires and separated from them only by a thin veil of insulating cloth. Dragon religions typically derive from nature, and plains dragons view lightning as a sudden break: the divide between heaven and earth temporarily splitting. Hence, thunderstorms are religious occasions to the particularly devout.

"mace-faced" armor. Helmet ridges loosely inspired by the flanges of maces. The rest of the design is a bit rapid and shoddy, but I wasn't looking to make something perfect, moreso to explore heavier armor ideas for Dragons.

Greetings, good people of Bluesky! I am MKP, an amateur writer and illustrator. I tend to draw many pieces from my own fantasy setting which I'm simply calling the "Northern Continent" for now, but I also occassinally create paleoart and fanart. I hope folks will find my art interesting!

A whalepig, a large type of semi-aquatic ungulate which inhabits boreal and arctic regions.

A Plains Dragon armed for combat. I have decided to treat Dragons as having intelligence and civilizations analogous to humanity, though not as directly similar. Here, a mercenary of the Goldenhorn company is lightly-armed to enable more evasive combat.

Dragons are not the only forces to be reckoned with. Here, a Giant Dragonslayer clutches the head of a foe. Northern Giants often face attacks and extirpation by Dragons, and so they choose to turn their immense strength against their assailants to frightening effect.

A Boreal Dragon wizard. Covered in feather-like bristles, Boreal Dragons are lords of the north. To further their dominion, they are the masters and creators of several branches (or schools) of ice magic, through physical kinesis, thermal magic, or a mix of both. To this day, the great Vaekhatnal, the seat of their ruling Assembly, has never been breached by assailants.
