I agreed to sell my 10 year old nephew my PS5 a few months ago, figuring I could roll that money into buying myself a PS5 Pro. A brilliant idea in June. A disaster when he finally puts together enough money in October and the PS5 Pro is now rarer than hen’s teeth.

Reading NYT’s list of the 100 greatest TV shows of the 21sr century. These lists are always navel gazing but… I think these reviewers and I have similar navels. I read backwards from 1 and got into the 20s before it hit a show I seriously disagreed with.

I prefer the second Vampire Hunter D to the first, and I like Howls but I’m ride or die for Princess Mononoke. Witch Hunter Robin was less fun to rewatch than I expected. I think I need to watch it at 2 am after a day of avoiding studying for finals to get the original experience.

It is doing most of the work locally, with fallback to chatGPT. I’m on a $20 plan, and the impact of developing the bot is noticeable in my usage rates, but the bot itself’s usage is negligible. We will see if that remains true when it is actually posting.

It’s gone through daily updates, and the second full iteration is producing better results than the first. It now has specific criteria for how to evaluate an article, what to look for and what to avoid. It is pulling 80-100 articles a day, and is now doing an OK job filtering down to 4-6 posts.

I know nothing at all about software development, so this has been fun to tool around with. I evaluated the first phase after a week of operating. I was hoping it would be ready to deploy, but nope. It finds new ways to fail pretty much daily. But it does feel like it’s getting closer.

One surprise for me as a parent is that Little Bit often *doesn’t* share my foibles and hangups. I was so ADHD by pre-K that I was basically unteachable until I was medicated in the second grade. Watching her concentrate for a 30-minute lesson blows my mind.

Week 1 was just how to stand and sit with the guitar. And it did take a whole week for her to learn those steps, practicing daily. And then four weeks in you hear her plucking the open 3-2-1-2 strings in succession and you realize, oh, add some frets to that and she’s playing twinkle twinkle.

We enrolled Little Bit in Suzuki guitar lessons. We are only four weeks in, but the process is impressive. They worked in tiny steps, I almost didn’t realize how it was adding up to playing anything at all. And then this week, suddenly the curtain opens and like… that’s recognizably guitar playing.

I’ve definitely had that experience. I have a Majohn P140 that I gave up on after two attempts at replacing nibs. I’m still in the phase of finding out what I like in a one, and apparently what I like is a thicker pen with a piston fill mechanism, which can be expensive in name brands.

I just ordered a couple Chinese pens, and at like the $50 range they start getting impressively good. The Asvine C2000 is a pleasure in the hand. It won’t replace the TWSBI Eco as my everyday carry, but it is has a lovely heft to it.
