"This month, Trump embarked on a monthlong, 17-state tour in mostly red states aimed at mobilizing Republican voters ahead of the midterm elections. So far, Trump has visited Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio, Nebraska and Texas." If he's visiting OK, TN, and AL, those GOP internal polls must be 𝓦𝓲𝓵𝓭

Campaigning in stupid-red Tennessee a month before midterms. HMMMM. www.tennessean.com/story/news/p...

Trump expected to hold Middle Tennessee rally Oct. 10. What to know
President Donald Trump is expected to visit Clarksville days before early voting begins in the midterms, which are expected to bring a rebuke to the GOP.

Same. Lifelong, seventh generation Tennessean myself. I definitely know better, but this does feel weird. And heck, I’m over in Cheatham county which makes Williamson look purple. Green signs outnumber Marsha even out in the sticks by the WMA. It’s really something.

I’m probably wrong, but in my beet-red exurban/Rural Nashville Ring County, I’ve seen scads of @jerrigreen4tn.bsky.social yard signs and exactly 2 Marsha signs. And neither of those were actually in a yard. Seems noteworthy, idk.

Highly motivated opposing party + lackluster support for the generally accepted winner is how we got Trump 1. Tennessee is one of the reddest states in the country but I don’t think they’ll be able to call the race at poll close.

I think there is an infinitesimal, minuscule chance Marsha gets Hillary’ed in the TN governors race. Enough republicans think she’s a snake to stay home, assuming that her win is an inevitability. They’re probably right, BUT you don’t see this kind of defection unless that attitude already exists.

Close friend told me morale is on the floor at work and management’s solution is to have a weekly meeting about it. The meetings will continue until morale improves.

Harvard and Princeton graduate Pete Hegseth says germs don't exist because he can't see them.

Every time hegseth says some new radiantly dumb stuff I think about when he was still a Fox News host and said he didn’t believe in germs. This guy is so much stupider than even informed people realize.

Agree with this sentiment. There were still career bureaucrats (complimentary) attempting to hold some guardrails in place. The vaccines got made. A lot of good public health got done in spite of the President. Fauci was a household name. Now we have RFK, & DOGE cleaned out anyone with any tenure.

I have met people who have the most straightforward traditional Protestant beliefs who do not refer to themselves as Christians because they don’t want to be perceived as Evangelical.

I’m from the buckle of the Bible Belt. Most of the folks I grew up with in the early 2000s were in churches that would later be more widely recognized as “Evangelical”. As I’ve aged I’ve met clergy and adherents of more mainline denominations and the difference is STARK.

Mitchell Lawrence @mitchelll.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
In my brain, “Evangelical” now lives about same distance away from “Christianity” as Mormon or Jehovahs Witness. Like, sure. Lot of the same names, books and stuff, but wildly different theology and approach to life.

Ok, so even if 24k gold leaf costs $100/square foot (which it doesn’t, usually $50-70 based on some quick searches, down to just a few bucks if you use non-24k), that’s enough leaf to cover an entire football field with several thousand square ft to spare.

When I was in undergrad, my best friend’s roommate was named—and I swear I’m not making this up—“Je Suis”. Wasn’t even anglicized to something resembling Jesus or anything. Wonder what he’s up to these days.

Meanwhile, in the South, it has been 90°+ daily for nearly 2 months, with the humidity of a small bathroom after a hot shower. I will be experiencing outdoor temperatures below 60° for the first time in like 5 months this week and am ecstatic.

It was even Gemini specifically. LMAO
According to authorities with Siskiyou County and the U.S. Forest Service, the novice climbers, from Roseville, said they'd entrusted Google's Al tool, Gemini, to help them craft key logistics of their trip - from the best route up the mountain to the types of food they should pack and how much water they should carry with them. The county Sheriff's Office called relying on artificial intelligence tools "a critical misstep."
