I'm not saying he's a serial killer or anything. That's not the vibe I get. The vibe I get is just the vibe you get from many handsome aging white guys: soulless ambition, endless ego, and an arrogant certainty that he is the ideal (white) American Good Guy who deserves all the power he can grab.

And I will say this: since I default toward trust and optimism, I have at times had mistakenly good feelings about people who turned out to be very bad. But in fifty years, I have never had a bad feeling like this about someone any good.

I love some of them so much that I will literally just sit there with tears in my eyes as my mouth incinerates itself. But yeah, the chemo does something to all the mucus membranes that makes them very sensitive - but that's the only one we routinely shove spice into.

But when you read news from a wide variety of local independent and on-the-ground sources doing their best to present reality as observed, and then check in with the New York Times etc. it's just... jarring, the difference in topic and tone. And I am absolutely not inclined toward cynicism.
