An honor to return for my third Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defense Conference and chair the closed-door US-ASEAN multilateral. Notable this year was the first in-person meeting between the Commander of US Pacific Command and China's Eastern Theater Commander, responsible for operations around Taiwan.

USTR'S report on forced labor imports is out. The abuse of our trade partners continues: without providing specific evidence on the prevalence of forced labor imports into Japan and the direct harm to U.S. economic interests, Japan is targeted with a 12.5% across the board tariff, on par with China.
