ultimately the problem isnt discord its age verification laws. any platform people would move to away from discord would obviously eventually be big enough to also be under scrutiny from International Lawmakers. thus likely forcing them to implement age verification as well

For those who might see that post about Harbour Masters using AI, it's bullshit. Someone swears it's like that but it can't use AI assets (those are from the game you provide), and they do have an AI policy which prevents any slop and pull requests MUST be human authored. Like, witch hunt there.

can we PLEASE bring back the word "poser" and stop using "larp" or "cosplay" - being a "poser" or "faking" being into something is lazy and disingenuous whereas cosplayers and actual larpers are passionate about their hobbies and out a lot of time and effort into them

for the last time, No. Discord isn't putting secret or hidden AI Bots into your Discord server. They are apps, external apps attached to users. The only way to prevent the bot from being used is by changing App Permissions or by banning the user of said app.

SIGNAL BOOST! @zirconst.bsky.social is looking for someone who can do good, original PSX/PS2-like sound design. If that’s you, reach out to him! :-)

Facebook post from Andrew Aversa:

I have a well-paying sound design (SFX) project I'm looking for a partner on, but the requirements are very specific. I'm creating sound effects in the style of late-era PSX and early PS2 games such as Final Fantasy X / Final Fantasy Tactics, as well as modern retro-styled games like Minecraft Dungeons. Think *heavy* use of noise manipulation, synthesis, and melodic writing to create all kinds of glitters, chirps, slashes, explosions, etc. without using ANY FOLEY whatsoever. Yes, everything must be created WHOLLY from synthesis!

If you have experience doing this, please reach out to me: aaversa@gmail.com I *don't* need to see or hear an entire portfolio or generalized demo reel. I *only* need to hear exact specific demos of sound effects in this style that you have synthesized from scratch. Huge bonus points if you can briefly tell me about your process / what tools you used (X synth, Y grain shifter, Z reverb) so I can get an understanding of your experience level.

Lastly, I'm *not* talking about 8-bit style SFX which are pretty different aesthetically. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, head over to the site in the comments and you'll hear what I mean.

p.s. This is likely a $10k+ project
