It was a beautiful day for hike in Peter’s Canyon. Mount Baldy (San Antonio) is always a great sight 😍

The view from Upper Peter’s Canyon looking northernly across the reservoir with foothills and a snow capped Mount San Antonio in the background. Trees and other foliage line the banks of reservoir.

Shit, the internet is the Tower of Babel, isn't it? Not in a literal sense but in a "this thing that was meant to bring us together is, in the end, driving us apart as it crumbles" way. Huh.

30 something years of writing some form of `ps -ax | grep appname` and while looking over what actually comes in procps I learn I could have just typed `pgrep appname` instead, and the output can be directly piped into other commands. 🤦‍♀️ its so much tidier too

As a child of the 80’s with a love of all things Ghostbusters and Nickelodeon I fully expected being slimed to be an every day part of life. Reality… I’ve been slimed by the kiddos a couple times, but most days I just get fuzzed. #lifewithcats

Last year at TrailblazerDx I injured my leg, and all the walking I did at the conference made it worse. I’m still not fully recovered. While working out tonight I realized one of my motivations was to be in better shape for #tdx25 in March. I don’t think I’ve ever trained for a conference 🤣🤣

Guess who almost got sat on after wrapping up my last meeting with the desk raised to standing height? It’s a good think I looked! Silly kitty.

This is misleading. The law only forces app stores and web hosts to stop distributing them. They could leave the service running if they wanted to. They don’t want to.

And that’s it, TikTok is down for me, right in the middle of an @aoc.bsky.social post on how we got here. Unbelievable timing. Thank you for trying congresswoman.

A notice on TikTok that the service is no longer available in the United States that popped up during a post by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Coretez about the ban and how we got here. The text of the notice is as follows:

Sorry, TikTok isn't available right now
A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the U.S. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now.
We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office. Please stay tuned!

Daily Toony - Playtime with Ms Petunia started off with her being extra cute to get my attention as I left my desk after a meeting. Playtime is for both of us!

I want to build a habit of using Bluesky so I suppose the best way to train my brain is with cat pictures! Here’s a couple recent favorite moments of Ms Petunia being cute

White cat with black spots sitting on her humans lap. The human is holding a PlayStation 5 controller in one hand and one leg is crossed over on the other making a 4 shape. There is a Christmas tree and a window in the background.

White cat with black spots sitting next to a carrot shaped toy and who’s attention has been drawn causing her to look off in the distance to her right.

Bureaucracy at its finest. Wonderful terms you got there TSA Precheck renewal form. I wonder how many people actually remember to call TSA to let them know they’ve been convicted, found not competed, pled insanity, or involuntarily committed?

After an accidental typo resulted in “sandbox referesh” I have decided I must define the intrusive thought it inspired. Sandbox reeferesh - an unapproved / destructive sandbox refresh where someone must have been high when they carried it out.

It’s far too early on this Monday morning to fight her for the chair. The appeal to logic failed. Apparently she doesn’t care that I need the chair to make the money that buys the food, treats, toys, litter, etc.. Oy, cats am I right?

this is literally what it feels like to have astigmatism

$A wider field view of Westerlund 1. A dense cluster of bright stars, each with six large and two small diffraction spikes, due to the telescope’s optics. They have a variety of sizes depending on their brightness and distance from us in the cluster, and different colours reflecting different types of star. Patches of billowing red gas can be seen in and around the cluster, lit up by the stars. Small stars in the cluster blend into a background of distant stars and galaxies on black.$

We had a smaller but noticeable earthquake a few minutes ago. I am thoroughly impressed that the MyShake app sent this notice a good 3-4 seconds before the shaking started.

A mobile notification indicating a 4.5 earthquake has occurred in Los Angeles and shaking will start soon. The notification has visual instructions to drop, cover, and hold on.
