Rinalle collapses to his knees on the sand, gasping for breath. Orestes flops over beside him; Pye pours water into her open mouth. The Turali sun beats mercilessly down on all three of them, Pye somewhat less so with his wide-brimmed floppy hat shielding much of him from the rays. He grins down at the two in the sand, as Rinalle falls fully onto his face, then rolls to his side, spluttering. The two greatest mages on the star, in Pye’s estimation and many others’, thoroughly defeated by an afternoon’s experimentation in black magic.

“Why?” he growled, pinning Ilberd to the tree just behind him. “Why would you do that?”

Maddeningly, Ilberd grinned. “You’ll have to be more specific, little flame. I’ve done so much.”

I finally finished it. I was folding stars for this for six months and stringing them for ten hours. There are almost a thousand stars. I am so proud of it and also my hands are now ground beef.

A trans pride flag (five stripes of pastel pink and blue) made of nearly 1000 individual origami puffy stars. Every fourth star has a floral print. The kit silently pretends to not know what M’halku’s talking about, avoiding eye contact. M’halku brought this on himself, he knows, insisting they rescue the nearly dead creature when they found him on their way out of Gyr Abania. In truth, he thought the kit would perish at Schism, they’d give him a burial and a send-off, and that would be the end of it. In all his days, he’d never seen a case of burnout that bad, and he hopes it never happens again.

If only the kit would listen to him instead of testing his boundaries.
