A thought I was having earlier today is that I feel like people gain the impression that erp, kinky rp, or dark rp, all are indicators of being a good writer and it's really not only incorrect but dangerous. people need to not feel obliged to delve into topics they don't wish to.

Characters in my shroud group kept regurgitating a story with increasing levels of unreliability which birthed this manderville-ass gpose. (Thanks to @salmonking.bsky.social and @evey-ffxiv.bsky.social for the good story :3c )

Cyr Blyme dressed in a bridal gown, reaching out towards someone off the camera while he is spirited away by the au ra Adelaide on chocobo-back, all while she flips off the person she's "stealing" him from. And in the background is a stag rising out of the ground prepared to steal him as well.

a simple waist-up shot of leih aliapoh in the Shroud. she is aiming her bow towards the camera at a presumed threat. her expression is a mix of concentration and determination.

lrp I love Phiomont so. so much. I am not a man-liker IRL but here is a man I can go - yes, I get it, I see it. and it's not because he is a beautiful man, not that he is well dressed (he is not! he is poor!, not that he is strong, stacked, beefy, nor slender and twinky (he is not!), it is not that

A sketch of Phio, a redbelly OC. He is a duskwight elezen. He is wearing a sleeveless leather shirt, smirking at something off-screen.

Strange feelings about "My OC looks good naked". I've got an odd kind of aversion to upselling my characters' attractiveness. Maybe linked to my personal self-image issues? (Not in a dysphoric manner, it's complicatedtmtmtm). Also the asexuality. Alsoooo probably hormones?

There's a really tricky line to draw because I don't believe in 100% 'RP to find out', it's important to negotiate boundaries and express intents. But I think it can be easy to accidentally metagame if you know a character's thoughts and intentions. Build trust, set expectations, be kind.

There's a delicious learning curve to Deceptive writing. There's "Show, don't tell" but then there's "Show (something misleading) and say nothing." More characters should lie. Lie and deceive. Don't tell people they're lying. Don't make it obvious. Let the lie be a lie, until it matters.

...that said I do think it's kind of funny to think that someone would make a malicious keylogger, and put it in a game that Definitively Draws Attention To The Fact It Is Registering Your Key Presses. because that would indeed be a genius notion.

000

Evey | FF14 RP @evey-ffxiv.bsky.social · 22/09/2026

Honestly I feel it's as unhelpful to cry out en masse about how ridiculous it was to ever believe there was malicious software in a simple game, as to have jumped the gun about such an allegation based off a single vague bug report. Because... in both cases it's just based off of social media outcry
