35 years since REM’s Out of Time. Makes me laugh to think how indie purists would have reacted to KRS-1 on the opening track and then vomited down the front of their cardigans at Shiny Happy People. I had just turned 16, knew no better, loved it all and still do.

I just watched it after reading the book last month and it left a lot to be desired. The Cold War stuff is terrible. Sounds like heresy but there’s an incredible mini series waiting to be made from a modern take on 2001 and 2010 as one continuous story.
