@mogwai.scot Lads, the last time one of my favourite artists released a record on my birthday it was Blackstar by David Bowie. Just look after yourselves, that’s all I’m saying.

What I love about Western democracy is you can bung a political party £ 36 million earned from criminal activity & most media will continue to point at asylum seekers & migrant care workers with families as the barbarians at the gate we need to defend ourselves from 🙄.

The first Cure song I ever heard as a kid in the early 80’s was Charlotte Sometimes and they played it tonight in Edinburgh and I had a little cry, so there’s that.

Slightly stressed after a bit of train palaver this morning, but there is something uniquely relaxing about bucketing past huge fields of golden wheat and spotting all the little vignettes of life hidden from day to day view. Seen three rabbits too.

Not a bad couple of weeks for gigs by my standards. The glorious and insane Angine de Poitrine, Pixies with my boys (they used to complain about me playing Doolittle when they were little kids), and a blistering Sugar set making me wonder why they ever split up. Not sure I’ll top that for a while.

Seeing the posters for the upcoming #RogueTrooper film has reminded me of the homages I've been making (on a very occasional basis) for the last few years. I'm positive the wait will be worth it, but, like 'Dredd', if you don't buy a cinema ticket, it'll be years before we see another 2000AD movie.
A mock-up for Duncan Jones' "Rogue Trooper" based on the "Saving Private Ryan" movie poster. It shows Rogue striding towards us across the surface of Nu Earth with the black hole dominating the sky behind him.The "Being John Malkovich" movie poster which shows a crowd of people stretching back and out of sight. They are usually holding John Malkovich face masks (on a stick!) in front of their faces, but all of the masks now feature the skulls of dead Genetic Infantrymen wearing their (unchipped) helmets. Seven rows back, and to the right of the image, is Rogue, tucked in among all his fallen comrades with a pissed off look on his beautiful blue face. The movie poster for "Blade Runner" (1982), but Deckard is now the mohawk-sporting, blue-skinned Genetic Infantryman 'Rogue' and Rachel is the equally blue-skinned, mohawk-sporting G.I. Doll 'Venus Bluegenes'. The title has been changed to "ROGUE TROOPER".

Have brought the wife and youngest to Haworth as both are slightly Bronte obsessed. Have left them to the museum to have a brew and read some Sci-Fi in one of the tearooms. Always found Wuthering Heights a bit lacking in laser weapons and intergalactic flight.
A large stone at the back of the Bronte museum inscribed with some text that I assume is a quote from one of their books.
