Yeah I haven't even gone to the new map yet, spent all my time clearing out the Trial dungeons instead. Meeting the requirements to get into a couple of them alongside how tough some of them are made it take longer than I expected, but it was fun

This observation is especially interesting given EQ's version of this (Legends) actually DID incorporate instances, which weren't a feature in the original till Lost Dungeons of Norrath in 2003. Legends allows you to spin one up for any zone you're in, and has raid instnces for certain bosses

Probably FF2 (FF4). I'd been playing games on Atari/NES as a young kid, and other SNES games prior, but I think that's the one that really showed me what I could get out of a game. Characters and a story I loved, beautiful music, and a sense of exploring a world that young me couldn't get enough of

Like I could go on about it for ages. If by chance people haven't played it I don't want to spoil anything, but the ending of this one had me in tears. It was overshadowed by Chrono Trigger, but I genuinely believe it deserves a seat alongside it and the SNES Final Fantasy games.

Just going to use this moment to gush about one of my all-timer RPGs. Lufia 1 is a great RPG, don't get me wrong. But 2 is incredible. Set as a prequel with some fantastic characters, wonderful music, fun dungeons with some great puzzles and one of the first stories in games to really get to me.
