This is an Aztec turquoise mosaic mask from Mexico, dating to approximately 1400–1521 CE.
It is constructed from a wooden base inlaid with turquoise, shell, and mother-of-pearl.
The mask is currently housed in the Museo Nazionale Preistorico Etnografico "Luigi Pigorini" in Rome.
It may represent the Aztec god of fire, Xiuhtecuhtli.
