Many dynein teams collectively generate high forces during the transport of large organelles
The transport of organelles is important to maintain cellular organization and function. Efficient retrograde transport of large organelles with a size of several micrometers requires high collective…

Help me spread the word about an opening for the Furino Chair in Bioengineering in the Department of Bioengineering at McGill University. We seek candidates focused on developing biotherapeutic approaches to cancer, including but not limited to mRNA vaccines, CAR-T, and immunotherapy. (1/3)

A few highlights from our new preprint: On taxol-stabilized microtubules In vitro, wild-type (WT) and phosphor-resistive (AP) tau form well-defined envelopes, while phosphomimetic (E14) tau does not bind cooperatively.

Very happy to share our latest work on tau. We show that tau binds cooperatively in living neurons. Phosphorylation disrupts tau envelopes, and misregulates axonal transport. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Tau hyperphosphorylation impairs cooperative binding to microtubules and perturbs organelle trafficking in neurons
Tau, a neuronal microtubule-associated protein (MAP), organizes the axonal cytoskeleton and regulates intracellular transport. Tau hyperphosphorylation is closely linked to neurodegeneration in tauopa...
